I see three choices. Top choice would be because the "office" could be a private living room for your father now, and an option of office space to a new owner.

Second choice the bathroom is in a bad place. If you are sitting at the dining table you will hear the toilet. I think the bathroom layout is better than #1 and would see if it could move to the office side of the bedroom and remove the door to the office. That room could be a living room for your father, he would walk down the hall to it.

Third choice is your new primary bedroom, yes? If you want a larger storage room upstairs you may need to have a smaller closet.

Thank you! Agreed we are telling the architect that I don’t want the bathroom next to my dining area because I don’t want to hear stuff. I get told that’s a bad design to put it in the middle and in the future you can’t make that room bigger etc so I get confused as he is an architect.
