Creative peeps - need suggestions

About a decade ago, when we were in Italy, my DDs had sandals custom made for them.

They were worn and enjoyed as long as possible. My other DD's sandals had suede straps of the loveliest pale blue. This DD's are bling-y.

Any ideas about how to repurpose some of the bling? Forgive the condition.

Do you want them re-purposed as something usable or as a memento?

I think ”usable” is going to be more difficult due to the missing stones.

Missing stones in a memento speaks to me of the good times these shoes had over the years. As a memento, how about framing the major round element in a shadow box, like one would frame an intaglio (I’ve got intaglios on the brain today!) with a smaller round element over or under the larger one (I like smaller under larger, but it drives some folks nuts). Below is for explanation only. I think you would need different colors. Perhaps a cream mat with a pale blue background and a very plain frame.

First thing that came to my mind but honestly I find them a bit ooky. Makes me think owner/slave, don't ask me why. I think a bracelet with some leather work would be cool though.

    Oh my, that sounds lovely!

I had no preconceived notion about what to do with them, but framing sounds nice

For people into making things out of vintage costume jewelry there are suggestions for repurposing.

You might need to buy more shoes…

I’d make a necklace using this part:

    Bracelets with these pieces:

A belt with all of the pieces integrated could be awesome, too. Or rings.

Maybe someone local or find a jewelry maker on Etsy, etc. It’s beyond my skill level, so not sure what someone would charge.

Another idea is custom Christmas ornaments.

Or … my choice would be to have another pair of shoes made. :)

If you know someone who crafts jewelry, I’d take those lovely jewels and have a pair of drop earrings made in a hot minute.

I can't believe that never occurred to me. Now to find someone?

I know she loves these, but I don't thing of her style as boho enough to use it as jewelry. I think framing or new sandals.

Who knew there was such a thing as "purse charms"? (Probably all of you.)

Maybe you could do something like those?

Find a small purse and have someone sew the beading on it. We have a shoe shop and saddlery in our town that does such things. The bag could be blue, beige or brown leather or suede.

You can make dangly charms. I don't think I'd want them near anything consumable, since they're from someone's feet, but charms can go on flowerpots, plants, or simply hang up in a window or from candlesticks...

    Somebody sells these on Etsy.

You just need pliers and some jewelry findings from the craft store - maybe some more beads...

She has an Henri Bendel black tote/school bag with purse charms. One of them is an HB hatbox that opens! These would be too rustic, alas.

The idea od sewing them on a clutch is cool, too.

But if anyone knows someone who makes sandals, I think that'd be super. And this time I think her feet are done growing. Maybe I should get her a gift ctf because she might want heels?

Charms for a keyring? (I quit with the keychains, and use a charm on my key.) Or, a Christmas ornament, as an annual memento of the trip.

Looks like a stone is missing from one of the flowers?

There are a few missing elements, yes but I think that is ok, the history matters.

I think framing them in two frames is the answer. Could even use a piece of an enlarged faded sepia map of Italy as backing behind the jewels (large and faded won't take away from them), or on the back of the frame (no one would see/know but her).

Made by a dear artsy friend to go over her gift bottle of wine. it has dangled from a lamp, a window lock and now on a kitchen cabinet pull. An easy and frequent memory.

She'd probably prefer something with more delicate straps across the instep, but I do know she really prefers toe loop sandals and she likes the sole to be leather not metallic., so we are close.

I would search for a shoe repair place and give them call and see what they do. You might just be able to recreate them or even make them into a more solid/thicker straps flip flops or any kind of sandal you might like (flats, heel, wedge) You can use reuse all of the lovely elements of the beads and any pieces you might like. Fun!!
