kitchen paint or leave stained

These are beautiful cabinets. The soffit will go, but then do we paint the cabinets? The island has the cooktop and I would change it all to one level.

You answered your own question. They are beautiful cabinets. I would not paint them.

Thank you, i agree take out the old soffit and put new countertops onnand hardware.❤️

When you take out the soffit, what are you going to do with the 18-24 inches above the cabinets all the way around? Usually people do that when they plan to get higher cabinets...

Yes, I agree, depending on cost - add glass front cabinets above to ceiling

Definitely do not paint the cabinets. They are beautiful. The rest depends on budget. If it were my kitchen I would get new appliances(not paneled). The ones you have look old. I’d put in new counters, new single bowl undermount sink, new hardware, new light over island and new barstools.

The problem with making the island all one level is then it really becomes dangerous for those sitting behind the cooktop

Honestly you'd be better off moving the cooktop to the left perimeter counter and getting rid of the island since it really makes the room smaller.

I would paint all the cabinets and the rattan chairs also. Try sage green, pale blue, even teal or a nice shade of blue. Would look great.

Trend is wood. Yours are pleasing to you it seems. Why the question at all? Spend the money elsewhere. Are you removing the desk and putting in a free standing range? The island is raised because sitting near a cook top is nasty.

Removing the desk and making it counter ht. Coffee bar area

Don't paint. The wood is nice.

I wouldnt paint the cabinets, and I also wouldnt remove the soffits. I like them. I would like the top lowered on part of that island, but, only if you plan on moving the stove top elsewhere. If you plan to leave it where it is, then leave that part of the island high like it is now. Your counters seem to be in great condition. I would probably leave them alone too. I would add a rug or two with some color, and a few colorful accessories. The kitchen is already very nice. I just do not see the need to change much of anything.
