Your photos are a bit hard to understand - were they taken from atop a ladder?

What’s your goal for adding a runner? To mitigate a slippery floor? To add color/interest/softness? If it’s a second floor office, I guess it’s not to wipe wet shoes on. 😉

What’s on the floor now? Will it stay? Is the existing furniture staying? Will there be more furniture?

Are you thinking of an area rug, rather than a runner? The geometric sample you posted is an area rug, hence my question. How much surface are you wanting to cover?
