Help with exterior finishes and windows

I’m trying to figure out the exterior of my new build. We have an architect working on the engineering but he isn’t much help on the design side. First picture is our house elevations with whatever the architect plopped in for finishes. Second photo I would be happy to copy for my garage. Also like the third photo and plan to have a front door in that style. I’m wondering if the windows under the awning should be taller or different sizes. Also wondering if that section should be a dark color like the third photo has a section that’s darker. I like a transitional or modern style. The smaller garage door is actually a roll top door to serve as a man door. I know it looks weird in the picture. I appreciate any ideas for exterior finishes and window sizes.

Based upon what you said and looking at the house's design, verify the license of your 'architect' with your state.

I would bet that your architect is not a licensed architect but a CAD ”designer”. I cant imagine any architect designed this

Now you are listed as a "Pro" and it says you are a general contractor. Is this your own home or a you to build it for someone? I suspect there is more to this story.

Just one example of what jumps out to me. Look at your garage vs the example garage. See how little space there is flanking the door on your house vs the example? If I assume those are 16’ doors you have 2’ on both sides meaning the exterior of the garage has a 20’ footprint so about a 19’ interior width. You will never park two cars in a garage that width.

No idea how I have a “pro” designation. Set the account up years ago and haven’t ever logged in till now. Can’t figure out how to change it. The garage door is actually 18’ so it has a 22’ footprint.

@HALLETT never say never ;) we had a 20' wide garage with 16' doors, and through extreme angling, we were able to squeeze two mid sized cars in with ample walking soace between the cars. However, it was very tight and far from ideal.

Now we have a 24' wide garage with an 18' door, which I believe is optimal, giving plenty of space for car does to open against the walls.

@Amy L, do you live the interior floor plan? Did the designer consider the exterior when designing the interior? Do you like other projects this person has designed? You don't have to go to an architect to get a good design, but you do need to go to someone who had both talent and experience. The chances of finding someone good should be higher with a licensed architect, but there are also good and bad architects, just like any profession.
