help!! nightstand and bedroom dilemma

I am going to lose my mind! I hate our bedroom and am on a budget. We have a mahogany sleigh bed and dark furniture in our room but I am thinking I need to lighten it up. I know we need to change our blinds to white. Aside from that, I want to change our nightstands as they are hideous. My husband’s side of the bed is worse with the same nightstand and then a cheap bookshelf. He could care less as he is all about function. Please help!

I actually don't think the night stands are hideous, they go with the bed. What are you thinking to change them to? I agree you should change out the blinds, I would do that first. And then maybe change or move the bookshelf.

Post a picture of all 4 walls. What is opposite the bed.

Agree the blinds don't work. I don't think the nightstands are the problem. They look to be mattress height which is good.

The lamps are way too short.

I really think it is the wall color that makes the room look depressing. Paint it same color as the side wall.

Also too much stuff around. Instead of all those small picture frames get one that holds multiple pictures and hang it on a wall. Keep the top of the bookcase empty.

The throw & pillows don't relate to each other.

Agree with all of your comments! I’m going to get a blanket that to place at foot of bed and then buy some boho mix and match patterned throw pillows. The nightstands are old and I believe they are actually side tables. When I get home I’ll take a pic of the dresser (also dark brown) which I eventually want to replace also. I was thinking of purchasing either light gray, nightstand or brown and white combo nightstand to make it a little lighter.

And maybe these throw pillows along with the larger gray pillows we already have along with a gray or black throw

    I can't help you because I dislike gray/black/white.

Fair! I’m open to adding some pops of color also like navy, hunter green or mustard

I am not sure the grey or white/brown nightstands will coordinate with your sleigh bed, either color or style wise, sorry it's just my opinion and I could be wrong. Maybe someone else could offer an opinion. BTW I think the bed is lovely too :).

I agree that your nightstands are fine. I would maybe find baskets that would fit under them to keep the visual clutter down. I also think the lamps are the wrong scale. How about trying some clamp laps on the headboard (think big and long). The blinds seem to match one of the colours in your decorative pillow, but you might want to try curtains to soften the space. I would change the throw blanket to one of the colours in that decor pillow to bring it together.

Thanks!! Yes that throw blanket was thrown on the bed my hubby and will not be staying on the bed. The throw pillow with different colors also belong in our guest room 😂

Do you all think a different style of nightstand (same color) would work better or maybe a lighter wood?

Yes stick with the same color nightstands.

Since you have the nightstands already, maybe try to style them a little differently. Could you put something under the lamps to give them more height?

Im pretty set on getting new lamps and nightstands. The nightstands are scratched on top and bulky

I could see metal and white marble round tables as night stands with your bed.
