help with oversized table settings

Hello! I have 17 people coming for Thanksgiving dinner, I will put 2 tables together for a 108” x 70” table. I am not sure how to decorate?!?
One is a utility table and MUST HAVE a table cloth. The other table is beautiful wood and can just have a runner and chargers. I have enough gold chargers for all the place settings. So far I’m thinking the utility side will have a black tablecloth with gold chargers, the other table would use a white runner with black plaid and the gold chargers. I have 20 red plates and 10 white plates that likely end up mixed between the 2 tables since people pick their plates and load them up at the island.
I have 2 orange kalanchoe for the “plaid runner” table, and 2 orange glass that could have votives or flowers…or ferns for the utility table.

What's your question? If the 2 tables are end to end together then cover them both.

The tables are side by side, I don’t have room to place them end to end.

My question is how to blend the decor on 2 tables placed side by side. I don’t fine a tablecloth large enough to cover the entire surface.

Sounds like a great get together!

Experiment with a few different combos and post some photos for feedback.

I think just find another black cloth even at a sewing shop to cover both tables for some connection This looks like a really informal dinner and chargers to me say formal. Since this is a buffet dinner why not forget the chargers get some awesome thanksgiving paper napkins , use the black and white piece to span the 2 tables nice glasses for drinks and pumpkins for decor mixed with the plants . Bigger pumkoins I think then any items you usually put on the table . I am not sure what your dinner is so can't help there .Relax it will be fun .Probably a king sized black sheet would do the trick to cover Just nicely starched and ironed .

I think it's so fun to put together table settings! Here's an article with some pretty inspiration. The first picture in the article reminds me of your colors. Maybe you could add some real white and green pumpkins/gourds to your pretty velvet ones for some variation. Will you come back and post what you decide on?

Here is a photo of my solution:polka dot runner layered on top of green mesh runner with white tablecloth.
I like the white plates best, will search for a few more so I won’t need the red ones. Thanks for your comments 😊

    A little different view.

    Stiletto,
Thanks for the link to Elle Decor, awesome article, I feel inspired! I’ll have a lot of space in the middle of my joined tables to play with! I go pretty eclectic, using what I’ve collected over the years. ❤️

So cute!!! Scatter some votives around.

“I’ll have a lot of space in the middle of my joined tables to play with!”

Great! The white tablecloth from Amazon will give you plenty of options. These long, narrow wood boxes can be nice down the center.

I don't see those plates as red on my monitor, they seem more burgundy which is a great Thanksgiving color. I actually like the variety.

Loooks great. Glad you opted for the white rather than black, Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, this is my Thanksgiving Dinner challenge of 2023-seating for 17 when I only have space for max of 12. I have the utility table plus a card table next to my dining table, they don’t fit so well, none of the three are the same height or width 🙄.
Im working on leg raisers to fix that.
Also, waiting on Amazon to deliver the white table cloth. The table is 9 feet long.
I may use the square polka dot table cloth across the center of the table instead of the polkadot runner.
I am posting photos of items. I currently have to go in the center of the table. Photos show options for the center of the table.
I’m off to look for a white pumpkin…

    Thanks for your advice!

I made alittle effort made to layout.
Still going going to look for real pumpkins, little ferns.

It can really be as simple as pumpkins with greens down the table center. Maybe some candles added…votives would be nice.

    Love the eucalyptus too!

Colleen, I also posted this one but it didn’t show up in my post.

That is going to be so pretty.

Love everything except the tall candle holders - a bit too tall, no one will be able to see over them and you have your light fixture to consider as well. It’s going to be fabulous!

The results: This table was as wide as a king size bed, 76 inches, and 108 inches long. I had lots of room in the center, with the goal of having 17 seated. We have a lot of local family!
So in the end I found faux fall leaves that look better with a floral table runner instead of the gold polka dots. I used the tall candle holders on the island and put shorter ones on the table. I won’t have another sit down dinner for this many, but all in all it worked out well and we had a good time. Thanks for all your advice!
