Seems to me to be the best way to steer the water where it needs to go The easy answer is to paint the down spout the same as the siding color . Show us the pic of the front of the house that is seen from the street if you need any more help. Post here in a comment DO NOT start another post from what you show of the old down spout it did not tie into the lower side addition so how did that area get rid of the water? IMO if you have gutters you need down spouts to handle the water . Nor every house needs gutters but the water has to go somehwere. Have you spoken to the installers to see what the reason was . IMO getting water awyd form the house is huge priority and sometime not a s pretty as you would like but a flood in the basement is a lot less pretty.

Are the gutters required?

I have done gutters in 2 houses and in both cases I had the gutter company order the gutters in one color (brown to match soffit/fascia) and the downspouts in another color (cream to match stucco color). Downspouts can be painted, but I prefer to have the color done by the factory, if possible.

When the gutters and downspouts first went on they still seemed to really stand out and it was all I saw ... after a few days you get used to the new addition and now I don't even see/notice them.

Is it possible to bring the gutter around the corner and then a straight downspout to an elbow to the lower gutter? I’ve driven around neighborhoods and don’t see any other downspouts this far sloped from the top. Another pic from a different part of the house.

Here is an old pic, this is the view from the street, and what old 5in gutters we had. It was recommended we go to 6in and for aesthetics drop into the lower roof gutter, which I like the idea bc I thought it would be less gutter to look at and the entire run flows under ground out to the street. BUT now I don’t love the large intrusive gutter that slopes well into the side of the house, feels like it was cheaply done, not being creative

They could do this. And like others suggested, matching the downspout color to the siding will help.

Or, they might have returned the gutter around to the side (blue line), then dropped down.

Yes! Exactly what I was envisioning! Would an entire new run of gutter need to be cut in order to run around (blue line 2nd pic) or can they make/ attach corner piece? These were installed today 😞

I really like the second drawing PPF did. If they can't extend the gutter, they could still mimic that layout using a new downspout. Basically, try to get very minimal slope as it goes from the gutter to the corner of the wall, then have it go straight down and connect to the lower gutter.

You are right. That looks horrible.

I've always painted mine the same color as the siding so that they visually disappear - they take latex paint well and don't chip or peel. No problem with my current dark brown house, it seems to be a standard downspout color and the downspouts match beautifully - my roofer keeps them in stock. Not in the least bit noticeable.

With all those gorgeous trees, I hope you install some kind of gutter cover. Extra elbows in a downspout are great places for clogs.

AnnKH - absolutely all have gutter covers. But need a different layout because what was installed is not aesthetically pleasing and there must be other options
