We are getting ready to have our new red oak floors stained next week. Ive spent time over the last month testing different stains to narrow down our choices. The flooring guy uses Duraseal and is ready to throw down up to four samples on the floor for us to choose from. I’ve chosen Special Walnut, Early American, Special Walnut/Weathered Oak, and English Chestnut. my floor guy said that out of all the stains in the product line, Special Walnut and Early American both always come out splotchy and he wont use them. wants me to pick something else.
Has anyone else experienced this? why would this happen? I spent so much time narrowing down my stain choices and i really love the Special Walnut. Is there anything I can do to even out the color?
