I really don't know because I'm not a pro, but I thought you might enjoy some images I found after searching for "narrow hallway lighting". To me, more important than the width or whether the glass is frosted or clear, is that the lights complement the style of your home, and a little repetition adds some class, imho.

(Also, not sure why clear glass means you have to use Edison bulbs--I don't care for them and wouldn't use them).

Thank you Mrs. S. I hear what you're saying about the style of my home. Trying to keep the look warm and inviting but am attracted to some of the more edgy and industrial designs. My upstairs hallway has brass doorknobs - we replaced the downstairs with bronze to go with the kitchen hardware. We have been slowly updating hardware, paint colors, hardwood floor is lighter, to bring more contemporary feel. So I'm stuck between styles which makes it harder. I don't like looking at regular bulbs through glass globes. Prefer frosted or opal glass. Otherwise like incandescant Edisons and they burn hot. Thank you for the suggestions!

"warm and inviting" and "edgy and industrial" seems a bit inconsistent to me but you may find suitable fixtures are Lumens. I pre-selected modern/contemporary, and industrial flushmounts but you can modify your selections in the left-hand menu. I like 3000K color temperature LEDs for hallways but you can choose a higher color temperature if you want "whiter" light.
