I would pull the rug under the legs of the sofa. Widen the curtain rod - 6 inches on each side.

Then the panels should hang straight.

Search brass and glass coffee tables. Your brass trim calls for it. And yes, pull the rug so it sits UNDER the front feet of the couch. That couch looks VERY comfy…

Hi RedRyder, yes still searching for a nice brass/glass table, thanks for your suggestion.The sofa was bought 2nd hand for $150 - we wanted something cheap while our elderly dogs are still with us. (reason for the darker colour) Yes, it is super comfy!!

When our dogs have passed (not looking forward to that) we'll replace it and the carpet. The chunky brown loveseat is from an old set and needs (to be set on fire.. lol) replacing.

I'm working with a very challenging L shaped living room. The corner of the L is actually an open staircase wall. Tried the couch in every conceivable position and settled with it against the window. I know I need a lower profile sofa but it is what it is. (for now)

That gnarly brown loveseat is only plunked there so I could measure the max depth/width for 1 or 2 accent chairs. Is it okay to walk into the room and see the backs of chairs? If they are low profile enough?

Can you post a layout of the room with dimensions? The room looks tricky.

There are some amazing pros here who are furniture arrangement wizards. There’s nothing wrong with working with the things you have. And animals are family, so they have to be accommodated. More information will get you more help.

Measure windows, doorways, openings, etc. and add the size of the couch(es).
