The light we are using comes in two sizes

18" H x 6" W (TCD 12") - was going to order this one for above our 8' garage doors

25" H x 8" W (TCD 17") - was going to order this one for beside our 6'8" doors

All outdoor lighting should follow Dark Sky principles which that fixture does not.

• All light should have a clear purpose.
• Light should be directed only to where it’s needed.
• Light should be no brighter than necessary.
• Light should be dimmed down or turned off when not required.
• Use warmer color lights where possible.

Light from that fixture shines outward and onto the wall where it is not needed. The design of the fixture even appears to block light shining downward where it is needed.
