Since you already have wood floors in the other areas I would continue the wood into the kitchen. A good floor installer will be able to make a good match.

Until 'someday' arrives medium grey or any grey will clash with natural oak.

If you put in vinyl click and all the other floors are wood do not worry about direction. It will not matter as the kitchen floor will be so different than the wood.

Thanks for the comments. I thought about doing wood but as pointed out I don't think the color would go good with the cabinets. Was just gonna do vinyl and install myself. I really want to get rid of the worn out wavy oak colored laminate! I had my wood floors refinished when i moved in 3 years ago but they really arnt in the best of shape either unfortunately. Looks ok just has wear from years of abuse that even a new finish couldn't hide.

Ah wasn't sure if should go a certain way. I'm leaning towards something slightly darker for the floors, medium grey cabinets, white subway tile backsplash and probably a butcher block countertop.

I wouldn't do a vinyl wood floor next to your oak. I would pick a floor that looks like tile. A light tan travertine or marble-style tile would look good with your cabinets. try to find one that doesn't have a pink undertone. Depending on your decor, a checkboard pattern might be a good choice as well.

Make sure you bring samples home so you can see how the floor looks in your light next to your cabinets. If you could post a picture of the kitchen, that would be a big help.

Thats from the listing of my house when I got it. Gonna look into the click type flooring that looks like tile. Should have thought about that orignally vs the wood look flooring. Thanks!
