I can only speak for the italian furniture I have owned IMO they are built to last forever We had a sofa and 2 chairs we bought more thna 40 yrs ago just got tired of the color our son has it in his media room now and the only thing he did was get new foam for the seating cushions and he says it feels just like it did when he was kid. We own new for us now 16 yrs old and seems to be pretty much the same quality.. I think they are better made than ones in NA and by far more interesting styles .I would how ever discourage sectionals always they are expenzive and give you only 2 comfy seats IMO armrests = comfortt

Thank you @Patricia Colwell Consulting ! I currently have a sectional (Dallas, by Carter Upholstery) that I am thinking of replacing with a sofa. I downsized a few years ago, and while the sectional 'fits' in my space, it is not optimal. I was considering reupholstering, but if I am going to pay thousands of dollars, I'd prefer a sofa in this room.

I like the sleeker, Italian design look. I don't like anything that looks sloppy. What other brands should I consider? I'd really like to see one in person and Tela seems to be more geared to online purchasing. I'm in Pittsburgh.
