I lkke hot tubs close to master bedrooms since that is how we used ours all the time. A fire pit I assume will not be really burning logs so where is the gas line I would not do ashade cover over any firepit. Waht you really need is an exterior designer and right now would be a good time. BTW grass around a pool is nightmare all the grass clippings end up in the pool . I am not sure where you are but fake grass is awesome next to the pool we did that 2 yrs ago and what a pleasure to no have grass clippings and a redo of the wood deck every year in places .

Someone I know recently renovated their back yard. They went to three different landscape design companies and told them that she was putting the job up for bid. She wanted an enlarged patio that along with her current patio could accommodate seating for up to 30 guests, a fireplace with a seating area that could seat 6 and a 6 person hot tub. She provided them her minimum and maximum budget ($30-$40k).

They each brought her a design and she picked the one she liked best and they got the job.

The blue outline of the shade structure is not aligned with the pool. It's going to look funny. You want to align it with the pool and make sure the other angles aren't strange (ie compared to the angles the fence makes). If this is not going to work, I'd recommend a triangular shade sail or a round pergola.

Yes it is not fully aligned. I traced that (poorly) myself just to give some additional context. This company will be giving us a design but I am trying to figure out if we go with a more 'traditional' hot tub shape or something different that might match the unique shape of the pool. We had gotten some designs from other companies before we decided on this one but didn't really love any of them.

Keep using obscure angles and shapes in the space with the hot tub and overhead shade. Also, I know your partner wants as much grass space as possible but you need something to break up that rectangular feel along the fence. It will just seem bizzare, like you crafted a nice layout for your features closer to the house and plunked them down in any old rectangular suburban backyard. You need some kind of cohesion between the two sides of this area. Is the desire for grass (which seems like a potentially horrible water drinker in your climate) for playing on with kids?
