Rachiele 42” sink

All

For s new kitchen build we are planning, we are thinking of a 42” Rachiele under mount SS sink.

We will get one standard kitchen tap with it.

As for what else, trying to decide from the following

  1. Air switch for garbage disposal
  2. Soap dispenser
  3. Hot & cold water tap with hot water tank and a water filter

Would love to get opinions on how would you rank order these add-ons?

Just remember, once you drill a hole in your countertop, it's pretty much there forever.

That’s why I want to skip in built soap dispenser. Def want to get hot/ cold water dispenser (Newport brass) and debating between air switch vs regular wall button for garbage.

I wouldn't give up my built-in soap dispenser or my air-switch!

We keep hand soap in our soap dispenser and a small bottle of dawn on a magnetic shelf in the sink. Also have a magnetic sponge holder. I wash my hands a lot more often than I hand wash dishes.

Can't see the bottle of dawn, or the sponge, unless you are standing right at the sink.

I disagree with some of Starcraft's points above.

    Air switch for garbage disposal

An air switch is the better choice for a few reasons. One is that it is an obtrusive button at your sink counter. Versus a wall switch that could be mistaken for the switch for lights. And why break up your backsplash with another switch? And why would someone prefer to touch an electric wall switch with wet hands vs an air switch which activates the disposal by sending air to the power controller, so there is no electricity and no concern with wet hands.

    Soap dispenser

The comment by Starcraft ignores that people wash their hands at the sink, and that some items, such as knives, need to be hand-washed. In any case, an in-counter soap dispenser vs a soap bottle on the counter has been discussed many many times on this forum. I prefer an in-counter soap dispenser, because in my experience, a soap bottle is prone to tipping over, especially as the soap level gets lower in the bottle, and then it drips. Also, when a soap bottle is clear plastic or glass, you can see the soap drips down the inside of the bottle which isn't that nice to look at. It has also been discussed a number of times on this forum that a soap bottle sitting on your counter can stain the counter, depending on your counter surface.

Hot & cold water tap with hot water tank and a water filter

Regarding a hot water dispenser at the sink - it depends what you want to use it for. It is never hot enough for proper tea, but if you are casual about your tea, it will be fine. Some people think the hot water dispenser is hot enough to sanitize dishes, baby bottles, etc. Unfortunately, it is not. And, if your water is hard, hot water dispensers tend to fail more quickly. I've had hot water dispensers, and always found them lacking - in temperature, in water flow, in longevity. I prefer to boil water in kettle. Your needs and situation may be different. Regarding a cold water dispenser, I have not had one; I can only tell you that people on this forum have reported they are noisy, but often people perceive noise differently so it is hard to say.

I have the soap dispenser, works fine except it's hard to judge how much soap to fill but not overflow. Still, it's better than a loose bottle. (after some trial and error, a small funnel filled three times puts in the correct amount of soap.

I don't have a disposal because I've never found one that is still functional after a year--even the very expensive ones. After seven years of Rachiele sink ownership, I don't miss the disposal.

The induction cooktop heats water up very fast so no need for a separate hot water system.
