Lanai kitchen update

It all started when our built in gas grill went bad... turns out they don't come in standard sizes and Dacor doesn't make grills anymore, so we're looking at a new grill that would require cuts to the granite and not the right fit.

The outdoor kitchen was in need of updates anyway, so we decided to put in new granite tops and backsplash. The same quartzite will be used for the countertop and backsplash and will go all the way up to the vent hood in that section. This is a reasonably priced updates compared with ripping it out and spending three months rebuilding the outdoor kitchen that's already very functional. The other appliaces are newer and work great.

So, the question is this.... while we are tackling the counters/backsplash are there any other design elements or updates that we should be thinking about? I wonder if there is any material we could use to resurface the vent hood and give it some pop. Everything is stucco right now. Same question for the island. Any treatments that we should think about to make it pop.

Right now the backsplash will go just a bit higher than the existing for the main counter area.

Love to hear your thoughts!
