I believe you are both correct! I just need to figure out a design around it, I do Ike the shiplap and the darker design I love as well

My only thought is that you should go with a tall /raised fireplace ... so you'll have a good view of it while you're laying in bed. Looking at the picture above, once your feet are in the pictures, you won't have a view of the fireplace at all.

Even the tallest one I’ve found the firebox sits much too low, the linear fireplace option is my best bet for viewing as I can adjust the height I put it at, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t look too odd and what the best height would be for it
