Redesign 2 small/adjacent bathrooms

Hi, I'd like to redesign my bathrooms but want to try to spend as little as possible so that I can budget more money to other areas of the house. This is a 1965 house built on a slab.

Currently as shown in the first picture, I have a 5'x7' & a 4'x7' bathroom, which is far to small for me. The hot water heater is located in the utility room, so it runs the length of the house. The pipes were re-run through the attic by the previous owner.

I think I'd just leave the larger bathroom alone. The door would be replaced with a pocket door (for both bathrooms). I'd put a small water heater in the adjacent closet with some shelving for that bathroom. Other than that I'd update the tiles/tub/sink (for both).

I'd extend the smaller bathroom 3' into existing closet space & recess a curbless shower into that space. I'd move the toilet to the end of the shower - perhaps not ideal since the door is right in front, but I thought I could put a plant on the wall to block the view. I'd like to have no walls for the shower. Would that work or is water going to splash everywhere?

I'm open to any ideas. Thanks.
