Hosta A 2023 ..................................................

Hello let's play. This has been a very slow year here, but we will see how this goes.

If it was that easy. I placed a toy into a small portable heater box as a joke. He was kinda excited to get his own heater, 7 years old.

    Hi Paula!..Facebook ads are funny..

I saw a car ad that said..

    “Won’t start..must be towed away”..

    I have 3 A’s..Abiqua Drinking Gourd..

August Moon..growing by the driveway at the bottom of the photo..

Autumn Frost..in the teal pot at the top of the photo..I thought the blue green of the foliage looked pretty with this pot..

I think that’s an August Moon by the down spout in the combination pot..

my pictures are in albums on my phone but I

need to be a detective to find specific hosta..

Thank you Paula for making winter bearable again. Such a bright spot with all the beautiful Hostas & jokes. I especially like the air guitar and the 7 yr. old liking what he thought was a heater.

Nice one hosta_maker. Sorry you had hail damage. We did share drought though.

Ann you did great job getting pics! Autumn Frost is such a good looker. I must get it one of these years.

Saija what a great bunch you have. They are all pristine!

I didn't take as many pictures this last summer as some years, but did try to get a good one of each of my hostas. I also bought 2 new "letters" this summer, so I'll be able to join in 2 more threads than other years.

    Here's my A contribution

Yes, Paula—-thanks so much for doing this againaim! we do enjoy it!

Beth, must ask what hosta is to the right of Ann Kulpa? Is that World Cup by any chance?

One more scrawny hosta from me.I eventually dug this up and replanted the biggest pieces together:

Debra, yes that is World Cup to the right of Ann Kulpa. It has been growing nicely for me. I also find some hostas just need to be dug up, clean off and replanted in another spot, sometimes they just take off then.

Such a good time of year when the hosta alphabet gets started!

The fan question from Facebook is funny! Mirror, of course.

My hosta collection isn't as big as it once was due to a of couple bad years for the garden. The ones that made it might be smaller, but they're making a comeback!

They are looking good Lisa! Onward & upward from here on in your garden.

Hi everyone! I almost forgot about the alphabet! Thanks Paula for doing the alphabet again!

I love to take pictures of the plants, but there just doesn't seem to be enough time to do everything in the garden. I also sort my pictures after Christmas, but I will try my best to have some pictures available.

And I have 4 Abiqua Drinking Gourd, but cannot find one single picture!

Alex Summers has pretty coloring and is staying low and wide which is nice as it helps make is complement the other hosta

Late to the party, and i didn’t take many pics last year, but here is Andrew

    My best Hosta, Afterglow

Antioch. On the southeast side of the barn, gets sun almost all day long.

Utoh, that Afterglow is very eye grabbing. How old is it? Has it been divided?

Thanks, Oursteelers. It is 4-5 years old, never divided. I think it fairy-ringed last year.

Well its good to be back for the alphabet. Kind of a down year for Hosta for me. I'm fighting too many Maple tree roots or just dry clay soil on a slope and I had quite a few getting smaller. Plus being busy and away from this computer and not taking as many pictures and only getting them organized now. (I had decided it it was too much trouble but after looking through your photos, I caught the bug again. And I did manage to take a few good photos, so maybe it wasn't as bad as I remember.) - Thanks for the therapy. On to the A's!!

Everybody's' favorite (or it should be) with colors that just glow - Amalia

    Ann Kulpa

Apple Candy has the loveliest, almost pastel, frosty colors

And one of my favorite chartreuses, always well-behaved and quite vibrant - Appletini

Wow, I have a lot of favorites for the letter A. Arctic Blast on the left

Awakening Angel looks great all year but really looks exceptional when emerging even though I didn't quite catch it this year.

Ayesha looks like June Spirit /June Fever but I love that shiny almost orange glaze so much I need them all!

Azure Frills takes on more blueish wax later but still looks good here

Steve, I bought Awakening Angel last spring….seeing yours makes me happy I did. Love Ayesha, not familiar with that one. A beauty!

I think it was Donna who I caught the Awakening Angel bug from. One bug I'm happy to pass on. Here's a later pic from 2022 since I'm up early today and all caught up with the alphabet.

and the pic that started it all off for me (not mine)
