You will rarely get more than you pay for, and hoods of sufficient size, excellent welding, efficient baffles, etc., are not trivial to manufacture. I will only recommend what I have, which is a Pro hood made by Wolf (well, mine was manufactured for Wolf by Independent in 2008, but the design is still the same).

Some commercial hoods covering the size range of interest may be less expensive to manufacture, but may be less elegant to look at. They may even be made of a stainless steel what is easier to work with, but not as resistant to staining from such as fingerprints. They can be cleaned with phosphoric acid, but no one cares in a commercial kitchen, only capture and containment at lowest electrical cost are important.

Don't forget the cost of a make-up air system.

What about a Wolf hood? It would still be expensive, but not like ModernAire which is all custom. I like the Wolf baffle filters (do not get a hood with mesh filters). Wolf has a number of different hood configurations such as undercabinet, chimney, and various styles of wall mount hoods.
