feature wall in shower

We are in the process of picking tile for our master bathroom remodel. We are planning on doing a similar layout to this photo.

I am wondering if we could/should do a tile feature wall on the shower wall either on the wall beside the window or behind the faucet/shower fixtures. We were originally looking at a large format dramatic porcelain slab for a feature wall but now we are thinking this tile. I haven’t seen any photos with such a feature wall. Has anyone seen this? Is this a good idea?

Do you have another tile picked out that for the rest of the shower? And the floor? And vanity color? If so, can you post a pic...your choices will make a difference in recommendations.

I would stick to something flat. It will be hard to clean tile that has all that raised edging. Soap scum is never a good look.

Lots of people do accent tile or tile walls in a shower. you have to have your whole look together though -- will the room be dark or light, what are all the other components, etc. And it's important not to have too many "stars" competing for attention...

How about no, and especially to the tile under consideration.

A very beautiful bath really only needs two tiles.

One on the floor and shower walls, and one on the shower floor.: )

Beautiful design is deceptively simple. Where people get it loused up? Thinking "more" will be more, and that rarely is true. It's opinion of one - but simplicity and editing are your design friends.

IMO 12 x24 porcelian tile for both bathroom floor and shower walls and same tile only smaller for shower floor. , if you must have an accent a simple vertical strip not centered is okay thenuse that same tile for the backsplash at the vanity. I think fewer finishes are the perfect thing for small spaces it keeps looking good for longer and provides a nice backdrop to allow wall color change and accessories . Less is more is a good greedo always and in small spaces a must .

Our bath is done in porcelain "Falling Water" tile. 12X24 shower walls, 6X36 flooring, and 3X3 shower floor and niche inserts. Same color family, different looks. No need for a "feature wall" that will get tiresome as time goes by and you change your tastes.

I am definitely a “less is more” girl so I would say skip the feature wall and use discipline with different tile selections (totally personal preference)

(FWIW about 10 years ago my MIL and I redid our master baths at the same time - hers had feature wall, dramatic faucet finishes etc (she spent $$$$$) - mine was uber simple and I had to watch my pennies so I was careful where I invested

Fast forward: she ripped hers out last year bc it was crazy dated - my simple/boring bath still looks crisp/classic)
