I would feel constrained working in this narrow desk area, especially if working on one or two laptops, elbows, etc. I would prefer the desk workspace not have the center unit where the printer is.

Glad you like it. This is a small "office for two" off a primary bedroom suite. That desk wall is approximately 10' and we designed the built-ins with those constraints in mind. (You lose about a foot in each corner). The important thing is to make sure you have enough desk space and room for your chosen desk chair. Neither of these clients are large/tall people, so we were able to make this limited space work for them--just barely. There would be absolutely no problem with just one desk chair and a single des,.
