bouncing around the room

our girders often have these little gaps and it results in a bouncy floor is there a way to improve this situation?

0. use tools to force them together (scary) then insert fastener

1. pass large screws through the small gaps

2. install some small plastic shims

3. other???

What is the size of the "girders"? What are they made of? How far apart are they spaced?

What is the sub-floor made of?

What is the finished floor?

Sounds like you are referring to floor joists. Is that correct?

You're using this term to define something else and we're all guessing at the meaning. Use the correct term.

Girders can be wood (either solid sawn lumber, LVL,s Paralam, etc.), they do not need to be steel. I agree with your point though @BeverlyFLADeziner that the terminology and descriptions used by the OP (this post and several others he made) is awful and there is really no way to decipher what exactly the meaning is.
