$15,000 foreclosure

My wife & I picked up this foreclosure for 15,000. Here is a picture the day that I bought it & a picture from last week.

    The inside of the house was in very poor shape. The first picture was taken during the winter. this house was taken over by kudzu during the summer (you can see old vines on the porch in first pic). The area is good, and the house is close to everything. I think that most people couldn't see it's potential. I removed the stained old carpet to find beautiful hardwood floors. I've gutted the house and will post pics as I finish.

      Oh my, Kudzu.... scary stuff. At least it was in an older Stephen King novel. Did anything,like your dog, disappear in the vines?

      All kidding aside, you've done a fantastic job so far. I can't believe it's the same house. Can't wait to see more pictures as you progress.

      Here are a couple of before pics of the interior. Now who wouldn't want to cook in this kitchen & relax in this living room? I included a pic of the bathroom & another after replacing the tile & tub. I'm doing all the work myself so it's slow going, but it's starting to come together.

      A vast improvement. Looking good. Have you considered applying wood nailers to the wrought iron columns and skinning them? I think that would be a nice touch. Happy Houzzing.

      Yes, and Studio 10001, does too. This particular project was shadow boxed for the bottom 36" with mahogany planks above. Turned out nice. I think the idea above, that Studio offers is best suited aesthetically to your particular home.

      Yes, although the top pic above more or less makes it pretty clear. I used screws to add 2x2 nailers on the inside ends and corner of 'L' shaped columns like yours, then used a finish nail gun to apply the wood cladding to the outside. Not too technical, if I, as a desk jockey, can make it happen! (buddy in pic) HH!

      I like the design. Should they be white or can we incorporate some color. I could always offset the white when I add the landscaping.

      That is crazy 15k for a home. In San Diego I cannot even purchase a driveway for that amount.

      I showed my boss/designer/wife. She loves the idea. I need to finish a few things on the inside first, but this is on the list now. I have iron railing on the side as well.
