When I bought our SQ washer and dryer set in 2017, I chose the Electronic control dryer because it had more settings I knew I would use, such as the extended tumble as it is called now. The analog version did not have that. I noticed on the DR5 that extended tumble is only available when you select the dry setting for sensing. When I do a permanent press load I always use the less dry sensing selection along with the extended tumbling option. You should choose the machines that have the options and features that make sense to how you use them. The fact that the two control panels on our set are different (analog for washer, electronic for dryer) does not matter to me. Both machines gave me what I wanted and I have been happy.

Another vote for the DR7 because it has two years additional factory warranty for parts and labor. It also has some sort of feature for pet hair cleaning if that should be relevant for you.

DR7 because of the addition factory warranty length as well full selection flexibility that's not available on the DR5.

Oh, and I had forgotten to mention that, curiously, the price difference between these models is actually quite small, which is surprising, but there it is. For a very small difference, perhaps 50 to 100 bucks, you get two additional years of factory full warranty, and as others have said, a few more cycles and options should you find them useful.

Thanks for weighing in! Going for the 7 seems to make sense and my dealer confirmed the price difference between the 5 and 7 is only $100. I still think I’m sticking with the TC5 washer, however after a less than ideal experience with a TR5 washer. Loved my previous TC5.
