    Hi all,

How do I create a luxury primary couple's shower? This will be in a new luxury construction. Where should the shower bench go? Is it Ok I only provide hand shower on slide bar at each end? Do I need to provide rain head shower on the ceiling, if so how many? How many valvles and divertors do I need to have to control the water flow? Also for the diverters, what is the difference between the 3 function ones and the 6 function ones? I am an inexperienced person, so I appreciate any construcutive comments.

    Thank you,

    Nick

I recently removed my ensuite tub and put in a walk-in shower. Your plumbing supplier (not a big box store) will be able to tell you how many valves and diverters you will need.

Since this is a lux shower, yes, do have at least one rain shower head in the ceiling (there are some that are 16" diameter). Shower bench should be opposite side of where the rain shower head. Instead of a built in bench (which can be trouble to waterproof), consider a teak bench (see pic).

Instead of a pivot door on the shower, I would suggest a sliding door.

In the toilet area, I would also suggest a pocket door, it will save save space.

Considerations: how high up is the window in relation to the shower? Is this on the first floor or second? Do you have to worry about someone outside looking into the bathroom while someone is showering?

Why not have the sink on the same wall as the tub, so you would have sink, tub, sink? This would create symmetry/balance the space.

For a luxury shower I would want to be able to turn the water on without getting soaked or having to completely go into the shower to turn the water on. Can you move the WIC entrance to the bedroom as opposed to thru the toilet area? Luxury to me would be able to enter my closet without having to walk past a gas chamber or thru a bathroom in general. Can you use double hungs instead of vinyl single hung windows since you are attempting a luxury build?

I think first we need to know what luxury is in your mind. I do agree never have a closet accessed through the bathroom. Do you think you need a tub/ I do not like the layout of the vanities . No pivot door on a shower that size. I dislike yoilet rooms but appaerently they are "luxury" so yes to apocket door . The closet needs arework to allow access from the bedroomand I would fo go the tub and ahve anice wall to wall double vanity on the wall where the tub is , move the toliet room down to allow for the closet changes .Are you building this for a client or for yourself?

Rain shower heads are useless. Don't put one in.

True that. Get a Speakman , and yank the diverter out to boot.: )

Don't all start yelling at me!

You can have abundant water/ pressure, or you can stand around in there for an hour trying to get the soap out of your hair.

    Make it a curbless shower.
