Like you I usually don't pay attention to bud count or height. Most of my daylilies are pretty consistent once they are established due to their container culture. I can see why height could be a problem though if you had them in the ground... My favorite of this batch tonight is Get er Done. Most appealing.........I don't have any G's this year. BUT I do have cold weather. I was wondering what everyone's high was Sunday. My daytime high Sunday was 4 with about 2 inches of that white stuff. Temperature broke the record. Minus 7 is hideous btw............Maryl

Yes Sherry, we were down to 11 with 4 wind chill. Tomorrow it may go to single digits actual temp.

I like Gently Down the Stream, Sherry and David. Going Bananas is pretty but someone up the street has it and it isn't going bananas for them either. Or even doing very well.

Glory to His Name. Not the best picture but it is very pretty.

Maryl - We were in the 20s on Sunday. The cold had not hit yet. Today is in the teens, and tonight will be around 10. I've got more than 4 inches of snow here though. That's unusual. I made a pot of Italian Vegetable Soup to warm me up over the next few days.

We got down to about -5 both Saturday night and last night. It's supposed to be about 10 today, but the wind makes it feel colder.

Gizmo is a cutie. I know it's easier for smaller daylilies to get overshadowed by their bigger neighbors. We are redoing a bed and hope to put many of the minis or small diploids together so that doesn't happen.

Gaudy Gaudy had a very good year last season. It's short but the flowers are nice.

General Spirit has been good about showing a pattern. This was its first year to bloom in our garden.

Gisela Meckstroth is also new to the garden. She shows a lot of promise.

Gift of Life is one of my favorite small flowered daylilies.

Glowing Quasar isn't as toothy as Bass Gibson, but it's taller.

There's nothing fancy about Golden Glitz, but it blooms late and is a great grower.

I don't find the color or the growing habit of Gopher Teeth impressive.

Grape Stomping was planted in the spring of 2023. I can't wait to see it next season.

I don't know if Greywoods Lips a Quiver will be a good grower, but I like some of the characteristics of the flower such as the intensity of the eye color and the beginnings of a picotee edge on the sepals.

Ghost Gifts put on a nice show last summer. It's had good increase and bud counts in the mid teens.

Grandma's Smile is growing in too much shade now to perform well.

Green Mystique had a decent year.

Gypsy Cats was the best performer of my intros. Scapes were a couple inches shorter than normal, and bud counts were OK.

That's a nice mistake David on Green Imperial Pigeon. Sort of like Green Icon but not. I will be interested in how it performs for you.........Brad: Glory to His name is a pretty one.....Nan: I still like your Gaudy Gaudy quite a bit. Maybe some day I'll try it again. I grew Glowing Quasar for a couple of seasons and it was as Rice said: Sunfast - even in our heat. It died over the 20/21 Arctic Blast (much like the one this year I'm afraid) and I didn't replace.

Debra: I was just thinking about Green Mystique the other day. There are daylilies I still wish I had room to grow again and GM is one of them. I also like your Gypsy Cats. Hope Cowgirl is holding up well in the cold. I miss a warm kitty to snuggle with during these cold spells.............Maryl

Maryl - Cowgirl likes to snuggle when it's cold. When she isn't snuggling, she's sitting right beside the heating vent on the floor. Glowing Quasar is such a pretty color in your photo! I hope it survives for you this time.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain here. High today of 15 with heat wave temp of 22 tomorrow. At one point today we were only 2 degrees ”warmer” than Buffalo, NY!! Hoping for the best for my daylilies!!

Kate: I'm "pea green" with envy over your Green Icon. I look forward to seeing how that color holds or if it shifts color away from green in the summer heat......Great minds think alike. Knock on wood, my Gwendoyn Rose should be here this spring. I ordered it long before this arctic freeze came in (it's a sev) but I see that Harmons up north has it so maybe it's not an overly tender Sev. How cold are you lately?,,,,,,Maryl

Maryl, I think you will enjoy the color of Gwendolyn Rose. Hopefully it will be hardy for you. I loved the blooms on Green Icon. I hope to see it in clump form this year!!

We are experiencing our third straight day of well below freezing temps. It is currently 10 degrees with wind chill of -2. We have a thick layer of ice on our roads with a couple of inches of snow on top of that. I know my northern friends laugh at that but this kind of ice/snow cripples us!!

This is a bloom after the heat of the day. I still like it in this color!!

We ended up getting more than 5 inches of snow in my yard when the two-day snow storm ended. There are drifts in the backyard of 7 and 8 inches. The airport reported 6.5 inches for the offical Nashville total. That's very unusual for us. Normally when it snows, we don't get more than 2 inches. At least the daylilies have snow cover this time for the zero and below temps. Tuxie, Cowgirl's mother, is a captive in my back room. She's a feral who doesn't like being contained. The first day she slashed up the blinds and knocked a lot of stuff over. Now on Day 3 she's pretty content and purring.

Kate - Green Icon is a looker. I always like your clump shots of Golden Child and Golden Globe.

Great White has been used a lot in hybridizing. I see that Blue PInk Beauty is among its progeny. The latter grows well. Unfortunately, many other kids have the same slow growth rate of GW. GW is among my slowest increasers here. Derrow's Also Known As is also a kid. It is a superior cultivar, except that it too would benefit from faster increase. Superior in the north to its other parent JT Davis (with much greater bud count and height). I see that ZuZu's Treasure is also out of GW.

I did not get a pic of Glowing Quasar this year. It did very well in 2022. Yes, superior height and bloom consistency to Bass Gibson.

Garry Bewcyk, when it is good, is very good.

Difficult to capture its darkness.

Gimmee Gimmee Gimmee had a subpar year with shorter scapes.

Guard Your Heart is a nice color, but height and performance are untested.

Getting Airborne did have tall scapes here, but has been a bit slow to establish (could have been from earlier crowding).

Gia's Wonder, out of Hanson's Women Seeking Men, has an interesting bloom with its parent's vigor.

Green Mystique looked quite good for a southern-bred cultivar. Flowers are modest sized, but the coloration is nicely shaded.

Green Arrow has a diploid lankiness in the ground.

I didn't photograph Get R Done this past summer. It had a very good year in 2022, with better bud count than in its earlier years here. Quite tall. Probably subpar this past summer.

Geneva Firetruck. Very vivid blooms. Not a really tall plant, but blooms well above foliage. Not sure why this is not more popular, but it is an older one. Vivid and vigorous.

Glass Houses. Like this one a lot. Not as good as 2022, but not many were. Not really tall, but blooms well above the foliage.

Graphic Art. A favorite that performed very well last summer. Out of Free Wheelin.

I too have Lips a Quiver, but have been disappointed in its performance so far.

Mantis - Garry Bewcyk is definitely eye candy. Gimme Gimme Gimme may have shorter scapes, but it makes a wonderful clump!

Garry has better bud count than many of Dan's here. Indeed, Curt has hybridized with it. However, blooms are many times not clean. To clarify, the Get R Done picture is from 2022. Its performance, like that of Sherry's, was probably subpar in 2023.

Kate, I love Golden Globe;also Butterfly Garden, Green icon, and Gwendolyn Rose.

Mantis, Glass Houses is gorgeous! I also like Guard your Heart, Gimmee x3, and Green Arrow.
