Lavender Roses today

Tomorrow will be purple/purple red but today is for lavender. People often try the lavenders while trying to get the elusive blue rose but I’m pretty happy when they just stay lavender and don’t turn pink!

Quicksilver. Probably my best lavender. Healthy and grows like a beast. Biggest con is lack of fragrance

Angel Face-pretty but kinda puny here

Neptune. It took three years for this one to turn lavender! Always bloomed bright pink but the past couple of years itnis finally showing its true colors

Le Petite Prince-this one is a gangly wonky grafted beast. Horrible looking plant but the fragrance makes it worth it. I’m trying to propagate it to see if own root might be a more manageable option

The Pride-it feels almost sacrilegious to say this but I expected more…unusual coloring from this one. I had hoped it would be one for the odd colored list but it’s pretty much lavender

I’ve been tempted by Charles DeGaulle. I think I will eventually have to break down and get it-heard too many good things about its fragrance.

Love Song is such a pretty one but I haven’t heard enough good things about its fragrance!

Poseidon has been a great rose here and is about 6 ft tall in my garden.

I have Quicksilver, but it hasn’t really eatablished yet. My other lavender rose is Frances Sims bred by Linda Loe of Long ago roses.

Markay, wow wow! love your Francis Sims!

I lucked out on that one! It is as tough as it is beautiful!

I love lavender roses but only have a few, and then only have photos of the one I've had for the longest time, 'Lilac Charm'. Here it is the Ugliest. Shrub. Ever. Pathetic, even! But the blooms are sublime, and it was especially good last year after the buckets of rain we got. Here it is with Iris graminea, which is highly fragrant and smells like plums (hence its common name, plum tart iris) and is, without doubt, my favorite of all the irises I grow.

Love Song, of course. Diane has posted so many luscious photos of this one that I had to get one myself. I feel sad that it isn’t fragrant but I love it anyway!
Does Vineyard song count as lavender?
Angel Face is another one that Diane enabled me on.

Love Song. Diane was right - it loves hot dry climates.
Raspberry Cream Twirl - very vigorous, delightful.

The Pride. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this one did in its first year.

Plum Perfect. At the start of summer I was planning on shovel pruning this rose if it didn’t perform better, but it looked great so it gets to stay.

cab. your Pride’s coloring looks much better than mine-very nice!

Thank you! Some blooms looked pinker than others, but overall I was impressed with it. Hopefully, yours performs how you would like it to this summer.

    Ooo I love a good lavender !

I have a few Japanese ones that I lost the tags on and my memory is foggy .

One thing I love about these threads is that we can see many different photos of the same rose in different gardens and they are all so beautiful!

Either lilas or illias cant recall but it hilds blooms forever

Lost tag but the translation was something like ” almost blue ”

That's the best Quicksilver I've seen, oursteelers. I have an own root plant of it that has never had a pretty bloom. It has just struggled to survive where I've got it. It HAS put on some size so I hope this year it'll have the energy to produce some pretty blooms.

Markay, thanks re Frances Sims. It is a tough, healthy plant here too. Color varies quite a bit. It has a nice fragrance.

Here's English Perfume. My plant of it is not great but it repeats well and seems pretty tough. I got it after seeing Sara Ann's pictures.

    Vineyard Song

    Blue River...weak plant

    Blue Moon Stone

Mrs. Woods Lavender Pink Noisette....has a lot of pink usually

Erasmus, thank you. I’ve seen your picture of Vineyard Song before and it is what pushed me to buy it in the fall. So pretty. I don’t know if it will be ready to go into the ground this fall or next spring but I can’t wait for it to look like yours.

Lilyfinch, you’re killing me with that no name. Love love love the coloring and arrangement of petals!

Erasmus, about 20 years ago, I took my good friend and colleague on a rose road trip to the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden. She was particularly blown away by the large OGRs... picture someone bringing their arms from above their head outwards as she described her joy of their big spread. One of the ones she particularly loved was Mrs. Woods' Lavender Pink Noisette, and I got it for her from Vintage. And her name is actually Mrs. Woods :-D

Some of those no name ones are very tempting! Lavender Veranda 's color is gorgeous.

Nicole Carol MIller too. I hear Love Song does better own root than grafted. ?

Oursteelers - really? Maybe your heat is too much for the blooms to look like that. NCM has many looks. I'll see what else I can find.

Nicole Carol Miller...I love this rose. This is from August, so it was probably a hot day.

Beth - your lavenders are all beautiful...my favorite is your Blue Bird!!

Bishop's Castle has a lavender cast to the blooms.

    Hi Beth Hana,

I'm so intrigued by your Couture Rose Tilia. Such an unusual bloom, I think it looks really special. There's limited info on HMF. What do you think about her? Could you please comment about the health, rebloom, size, fragrance? Any info would be great!
