So what I see is dated cabinets , a cooktop area on an inside wall both IMO need updating. I need to see the whole space . The cabinets on either side of the range or cooktop will need to be the right space in betweent to do either new cooktop or range. IMO new counters would not be in my head right now without really deciding on the caniets and so I need more context and I garee you need a hood but where will you vent it ? I will tell yu you can do so much better storage and function on that wall .

Agree need more context but we replaced an aging cooktop with a Fisher Paykel cooktop and a Best downdraft. Installer did a fabulous job grinding our granite so the cooktop and downdraft fit perfectly. Check out the Best downdraft system. While I would have preferred an overhead vent, it wasn’t possible to retrofit. I cook a lot and have been very pleased with this downdraft. Of course it may not work with your set up but it’s worth a look.

Cutting the stone on site without too much mess isn't a big deal, nor is pulling the cabinet to accommodate a slide-in range. Couple thousand dollars or so.

Where is your oven located, does it work well? If you get a range instead of just a cooktop, do you need two ovens?

Vent tooks like it is on an interior wall. How long would the duct run be to get it outside?

I have attached few images to give better layout of kitchen. Eventually will plan on updating all appliances to stainless steel. Directly behind the stove is my pantry and can run a vent and it is 8 feet to the exterior wall. I already have an oven as seen in the picture so really don’t need a second one that is part of the freestanding but I do like the look of the freestanding ranges.

Joseph for the 2000 that is to cut just the granite and cabinet out does that include putting ductwork and a vent as well?

I believe the max cutout I can do is 34.75" because of the cabinet walls.

Have you considered induction? The overpriced Miele KM637036 Inch Induction Smoothtop Cooktop requires a 34-1/2" x 20-1/2" cutout. But, hey, you wouldn't have to chop up the cabinets to fit a range!

I found this gas cooktop that should fit without modifcations to my current granite countertops and may go with it but would have preferred the main burner to be in middle

No, the required cutout is 32-3/4" x 18-3/4" which is smaller in both dimensions that your current cutout. You can't make the cutout smaller.

You get a gas appliance repair shop to figure out the valve they trully do not change much from maker to maker . You will not find it by searching on the net .

The spec sheet mentions the trim kit but the cutout dimensions do not change. The trim kit is just cosmetic.

I will confirm with the company but they is what it states for the summit cooktop.

Nah, look at the photo above. The trim kit is just a thin piece of sheet metal that fits underneath the cooktop. And it certainly wouldn't increase the size of the cutout to 36".

Would something like this Samsung range work since its cutout width is 33 7/8? I would need a granite guy to cut the granite since mine is 33 5/8 or you never know if they made it slightly a little larger when they first cut it.

Nope, its required cutout depth is 19-1/8" and yours is 20-9/16", too deep.
