I decided to do a temporary/half kitchen renovation and delay the full-blown renovation. Eventually I will get a white quartz countertop, but for now, I found a prefinished engineered butcherblock countertop at a good price. (It’s the only one that’s easy to install at a good price.)

What color of wood plank flooring should I get to go with this butcherblock countertop and my other cart and table? Cabinets are SW extra white and appliances are stainless. (I already have those.) I’ll just paint the backsplash white for now.

I liked the idea of matching the floor to the countertop, but all the ”natural” wood options seem ”off”. Should I contrast the wood look floor? Dark brown? Gray-brown? Taupe? Or is there a natural wood color that would match? I found $2/sf click lock vinyl plank wood-look flooring but I may be willing to spend a little more since I only need 150sf.

The flooring and countertop are throwaway since this is temporary so I want to keep the expense low. Although I could repurpose the countertop in my workshop later.

Bottom right: oven cart, has multiple wood tones (more than in pic)

Bottom left: porcelain tile in adjacent room thru 30” pocket door opening. This tile will eventually be installed in kitchen when I get the white quartz countertop

The goal is to do this reno quickly and easily with minimal outage, work and extra expense. That’s why I like the prefinished butcherblock and the click lock floor. Also the inside of my white cabinets looks like the butcherblock.
