Look, you can do whatever you want. The design police won't break down your door and fine you.

That being said, I probably wouldn't recommend it. It kind of looks like you couldn't get what you wanted and had to compromise. I'd do one or the other, depending on your other choices for the space.

You can have shaker, you can have two colours, you can save a good amount of money but you can't have all three.

It is not a definite no, but it is really really really close.

Id spend a little time with options from Ikea and/ or Scherrs. There are no corners in your plan......perhaps the Ikea frame sizes will work..... and get Scherrs doors for paint grade perimeter [ or they can provide finished in a white] .....then see if their white oak or rift cut oak or alder or whatever you might choose for a species would work for the island. Seems it might be the solution ..as noted with no corner cabinets. For a large kitchen the plan is very straightforward. Scherrs is having a sale , I just noted...not familiar with what reductions they do.

At the very least you need a prep sink. Better would be a relocation.

We're not seeing the entire living floor, but you've also got your major clean up sink/dw in what appears to be traffic from a garage.....you will find that a whole lot of annoying!

I agree the layout needs work before deciding cabinet style or color. If you have not checked out Ikea I would suggest you do that. I think this 2 tone kitchen"trend" is one of those things that will be "dated" For the layout start with the fact you never want to cross in front of the range to go from fridge to sink and in this case you need a prep sink in the island for sure. Make sure all the base cabinets are drawers Wahtever else you do I do not like that mix of cabinets styles they look like you tried to match and missed .

99% of RTA cabinets have no real warranty, and will leave you doing a kitchen remodel quickly in a fairly new house. There are only a few American made, that have quality worth owning. Those won't be "cheap". You get what you pay for in cabinets, 100%.

There are lots of options that are between Kraftmaid and RTA in price. Lines like Diamond or Shenandoah give you the design flexibility of semi-custom with a reasonable pricetag, and Ikea are even cheaper (but not quite as customizeable). I have used both in houses I've renovated and been very happy with the results, and I've used Diamond in my own home.

It's not at all uncommon within the excitement of a new build, to let the "look" of the space drive the kitchen, accidentally setting aside how that kitchen will function every day in thought process.

We don't what stage of the build to now, we aren't seeing the kitchen in the context of a whole living space. But.

The layout has warning bells all over it. I'll hope that doesn't send the o.p into a tailspin of doom- but a couple of k. d pro's here might say same. There's A LOT of help here, if you're open to tweaks .

Thank you all for the feedback! I will absolutely take a look at the companies recommended for cabinets. And I see very clearly that doing different door styles in the same area is a definite no. I will continue my search for the perfect cabinets!

As far as the layout- I posted a previous discussion asking for some advice on whether or not to add a prep sink to the island. I appreciate the feedback on our layout, but we are very happy and excited to have a clean, uninterrupted island. We did, however, decide to add a prep sink in the pantry where we will have a beverage center. Thank you everyone!
