The Generous Gardner is vigorous, blooms a lot, and is basically disease free for me. Lovely foliage. My singular complaint is the blooms shatter in a day or two. However, once it is established, it produces them constantly so that isn't much of an issue. Has a lovely fragrance as well.

I'll second that.

Spirit of Freedom is definitely one of the top Austin roses I have ever grown. The health is good against black spot and it reblooms well specially for the giant giant blooms with great scent.

True but one can’t really buy Spirit of Freedom rose right now. Whereas, The Generous Gardener is available.

I loved the generous gardener but in my area it was cream , it couldnt hold the blush color . thats my only complaint !

Spirit of Freedom is no longer patented. If you could get cuttings you could root one for yourself.

I have two plants of The Generous Gardener...one grown on a picket fence and one freestanding. I'm afraid I have not noticed the blooms shattering quickly. Maybe they don't here, or maybe I just haven't noticed. It is a vigorous, healthy plant. One of DA's healthiest. I think it's pretty.

Well that pic makes me want to try it again lol ! so pretty !

Gardenroses LLC has Spirit of Freedom, listed as Ausbite. If you haven't seen the discussions about them here on the forums, they are a new company, but they seem to be trying their best to keep customers updated, and will start shipping soon. I have five or six roses ordered, including a SoF. They currently are a (young-both the owners and the company, lol)) mom and pop company, but if they can deliver on their promises, I suspect they will be very successful.

EDIT: I just noticed that they are sold out of SoF for Spring '24, but have them listed for Fall '24 availability.

Does anyone know where I can get Jubilee Celebration shipped to California this spring?
