Both plants are shade tolerant but not shade lovers. Both will do well in full sun and flowering will be significantly reduced in much shade, I might try the 65% but 80% is too much IMO.

Not much sun around here unfortunately. My previous house was tons of sun. I'm learning how to do shade. So far things have done better for me than I thought they would given the amount of shade I've put them in. Was hoping one of these would like more shade than the other.

I have another spot that's probably 40 percent shade that I hadn't considered before, but it's in a place full of thirsty tree roots. Actually, all of the locations are. It wouldn't get full afternoon sun either. If I used that spot, which would be better suited for it, and which for the other spot?

They'll both live in 80% shade, but don't expect as good of bloom and the growth won't be as compact.

The Pieris, being variegated, might show up better than the deep green Camellia. even if neither flowers well.
