LILLIAN'S VAPOR TRAIL: Not really impressed with this one. Fan to scape ratio was poor. Left the garden.

LIMELIGHT AND LAVENDER: Still getting settled in.

LEMON FRINGED PASTEL: I like this one. Love all of the tendrils on the edge.

LEDGEWOOD'S JUMP START: I like this one. It is tall with a modest bud count. Top branched.

LAVENDER BLUE BABY: A fantastic plant. Tall scapes and well budded.

LUNAR EMPIRE: This plant is well branched and budded. Scapes are tall and blooms are flawless. My only complaint is I think the blooms are on the small side for the scape height.

LUCKY DEBUT: This is a Bennett intro. I love the shade of pink, but the flower form could be better. Blooms are large and when multiple are open the color is fantastic. I like my flowers more tailored and uniform, but the color is really appealing. The green throat and pink petals are a wonderful combination (in my opinion).

LAVENDER FLYTRAP: I like this toothy bitone.

Lingering Splendor: Substance is like cardboard.

LAURA HARWOOD: A real standout when multiple blooms are open.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD: Vigorous grower. Does not seem to be bothered by division.

Sherry: Another nice round of daylilies for you. I like your yellow double Late To the Party. Laura Harwood was such a disappointment in my climate (constant problem with folded petal tips), but I see it looks pretty for you. Luscious Kiss is a very pretty one and probably my favorite of this group. And btw: Thanks for the 10 years........David: The color on your Laura Harwood looks great, and Lunar Empire is a nice ruffled yellow.....I'll contribute a couple of small flowered ones to this letter.

Lil Black Buds. Bloomed profusely for a first year plant. It really is almost pure black in person and very sunfast. If you like black this could be for you. I'm holding my breath as to whether it survived our below zero temperatures outside:

The second small flowered one is a pretty double. It's first bloom was gorgeous with perfect form. It is a Stamile, so our high afternoon heat does lighten the color and opens the form somewhat, but I still liked it.

Lady Stephanie has been a bit of a disappointment to me. The red is not as rich as its registration photo shows. It has, however, given us some nice seedlings, one of which will be introduced in 2025.

Last Fool Standing

Last Man Standing is a great one for late color.

Last Snowflake was great last year. It doesn't increase well and is short for us, but the flower is lovely.

Lemon Fringed Pastel is a good grower for us.

Lincoln Andrea has an interesting history. When I first obtained it, I noticed that the database said the name was 'Lincoln Andres', but Chad Bush's website said 'Andrea'. The database has now been changed to reflect the true name 'Andrea'. I will take me awhile to get used to this name. It's a nice daylily and a good grower.

Lions and Tigers and Bear is a disappointment too. My flower never is intensely colored like the one pictured in the database.

Like a Gee Six-I have documented my woes with this plant. The blooms always look ragged and splotchy. I sent a lot of it to Celeste. She sent me the most beautiful pictures of blooms there.

This is another example of it-rarely the same color

I was outside working today and surprised at how hydrangea stems and newly sprouted hyacinths seemed undamaged by the week of frigidity. That may soon change if we have fluctuating extremes. Last year, almost surely, most damage was done from the very warm February followed by mid-March cold (which really zapped daffodils and probably produced all the daylily malaise).

It was difficult to judge cultivars last year since the negative effects were so broad. Linda Beck was not its best, but not as short as Debra's. Light of the World was so-so, but generally is an ok grower. Liberty Banner looks good in your pics, Brad; it is quite large, as I recall. Laura Harwood seemed shorter here, and yes, it can have bad days. I have never thought of it as particularly sunfast, but in that category, not many are.

Not a good pic of Larry's Twilight Bite, since it is much darker. I am surprised that Nancy doesn't grow this one, but perhaps it is a bad breeder.

Logically Implied was not as good as 2022, but a lovely pastel color. Difficult to photograph since the color either is glared out or photographs dull in overcast. Hanson. Photo from this year.

Linda Sierra --again, subpar. But Kate's looks very good!

Lovestruck Linda --quite reliable. Not as tall as some of Judy's, but not short.

Let the Sea Resound. Quite tall. Not sure whether it is a favorite. Emmerich

Love Song --reliable performer

Love 'n Loujean --not as good as 2022

Let Justice Roll Down. A rich deep color, but performance is untested, and it looks as though it will be an Emmerich short.

Lavender Blue Planet. Inherits the intense color from parents Elizabeth Peacock (and Alone Again).

Lavender Green-Eyed Lady --from Dan White. An interesting earlier bloomer.

Love in a Vacuum --one of Curt's best reds, which I came to late. Described as a raspberry red; it holds quite well.

Lonesome Jaguar --seemed shorter than usual, but it could stand a few more inches any year. Mike D says he has a hard time keeping it in stock.

Mantis - Just wondering - how much bluer is Lavender Blue Planet than Alone Again or Elizabeth Peacock? I've been impressed with every photo I've seen of Let the Sea Resound. How long have you grown it?

Everyone - I've really enjoyed you photos of the L's. My favorites were Lovely Miss Laucious, Ledgewood's Pansy Eye, Last Snowflake (I missed seeing mine since it didn't bloom last year), Laura Harwood and Little Dream Caster.

Lavender BP seems to have a more prominent eyezone than Elizabeth P. The eyezone of Lavender BP is larger than that of Alone Again, and the contrast between base petal and eyezone more distinct. Have had Lavender BP for a shorter time.

Let the Sea was planted fall 2021. The past summer would have been an important year for evaluation, but as we know, it was off for most things. Also in an area that gets sunny early, so more difficult to photograph in a year in which we had day after day of bright sun. Taller than some Emmerichs. I haven't seen here the darkness of Char's pics on NGA.

Lavender Blue Planet 2019 at Gates Mills. Was at least 11 a.m., as it takes four hours to get there.

Summary: To me the L Blue Planet eye seems more sharply distinct and prominent.

Mantis: Thanks for posting additional pictures of LBP. That one has been on my list for a couple of years. LOVE IN A VACUUM has been added my list to acquire thanks to your picture. This is such an enabling group (LOL).

Mantis - Thanks for posting the photos of the three Hansons I asked about. Based on your photos, I would say LBP is the bluest. But the one I like the best is Elizabeth Peacock, probably because it has that white edge framing it. However since EP blooms ML, it wouldn't be the best for me to use in hybridizing. I may add LGP at some point in the future.

Elizabeth Peacock is also the largest flowered, seemingly larger than the 5" registered. I cannot yet conclude what the mature height of LBP will be here, but appears it will be about its parents' height. Height at Crintonic is usually taller, perhaps because things are grown in full sun. Love in a Vacuum is registered at 43--definitely not that here, but still around 30.

David, this forum is not always just an enabler. It can work the other way too, as people relate growing experiences. So much more useful than the cloying succession of images one sometimes gets on Facebook.

We have had so much rain here. Well over an inch in the last two days. For this month, if the precipitation had been snow, we would have had 5 feet of snow. And I suppose that Mother Nature will make up for it with stinginess this summer.

Lemon Lime Radiance is an earlier bloomer whose softer tones I like. Blooms for quite a while, but not bouquet style.

Mantis - We've had a lot of rain/snow precip here during January - more than 5 inches, which, at least temporarily, will take us out of the drought category. I hope we continue to get lots of rain this Spring.
