A lot of the white/gray quartzites are prone to staining and need to be sealed. Slab yards invent their own names for certain stones, so don't rely on names alone. You should be testing whatever slabs you are considering ... buyer beware!

Why do you need to decide today? Act in haste repent at leisure.

You have to personally verify any selected quartzite's staining resistance. This does not mean speaking to a stone salesperson. The industry refuses to police itself which means you have to police for yourself.

Or get a Corian top and forget about ever staining it. No testing required.

Granite, not quartzite

If you can move away from "white", lots of people here have Taj Mahal quartzite and in my many years of participating in the forums we have only had one person who posted with issues for that quartzite. I've had Taj Mahal in 2 kitchens, a fireplace and an outdoor kitchen and all those 9 slabs, purchased in 2 different states and years apart, have been "bullet proof".

Our cabinet guy is arranging for our fabrication and says he needs to pick up our slab ticket!! Our cabinets will be installed by the end of the week. Joseph and Chispa, great advice. HU, would love granite if there was one I liked.

If you're not ready to decide, don't let others pressure you into making a choice you're not confident with. While the cabinet guy might complain, they will wait and ultimately you will get what you want and will be okay. Shifting schedules is common in construction, and if they are good, they will have plenty of other jobs they can move up if you need more time to decide.
