It's rabbit time again!

Tomorrow is the 1st of the month and if the first words out of your mouth are "rabbit rabbit" you'll have good luck all month. Anytime after midnight is fine and no need to say it to anyone.

Best of luck to all.

Well that seemed like a really quick month!

^^^My thoughts exactly! Seemed extra fast, for some reason.

I would say that January flew by but for me it seemed like it lasted foreeevvveerr.

    Hello February.

It lasted forever for me too... I think it's being sick and stuck in the house all this time. Except for drug store and drs. and a quick trip to the library for more books, I've been in the house since before xmas!

Same here! Not wishing my time away but goodbye January!

I’ve never spent a longer month in all my born days! And oh, goodie, February has an extra day!

Thank you guys, I thought it was just me. For me, January 2024 has been like watching the participants turning those scrapbook pages on Finding Your Roots - only to find you've gone backwards, not forwards.

January was not such a lucky month despite ‘rabbit, rabbit’. Hello February and I hope it is much better.

Well, we never know how bad it could've been had we not said rabbit rabbit!

    Thanks.

So I don’t forget, like I usually do

Done! Thanks for the reminder :-). Best of luck to everyone!

I woke at about 1 am with enough sensibility to remember to say it. DH isn't up yet...

ETA: DH woke and we said it to each other. Good to go for Feb.!

    I forgot-as usual.

I remembered, and I’ve already a bit of related good luck.

An appliance that we need was on sale ($400 ish off) and I was planning to buy it yesterday as it was the last day of the sale. I forgot until after we’d gone to bed. Once I remembered, I grabbed my ipad to quickly make the purchase, but it was 12:12am. Very disappointed, but I realized it was February 1st, said it, and went to sleep.

This morning, I started looking for deals and found the same thing at another store for $700 off. Yay!

Jay, some of us know the difference between a game and reality.

The hard part of living alone? I never know if I actually talk out loud sometimes. So I may or may not have said rabbit rabbit at the correct time?! I try, but I'm not ever sure.

    🤔

So you would think, Annie. But the difference between rabbit rabbit for good wealth and booster booster for good health is not quite as large as it would seem.

Actually, one is evidence-based science, the other is made up lore.

There's science-based evidence for having good fortune if you say rabbit rabbit on the first? Amazing.

I don't think I've forgotten in more than a years worth of first days of a new month. I'm not entirely sure its working but if it's doing anything at all, the alternative wouldn't be acceptable. It wasn't one of our better years.

    DH doesn't participate. I don't press.

We made a drive to Costco, handful of other stores of edibles and really bought groceries today. We didn't stop to eat any place, now if only I wasn't too tired to cook any of the things we brought home ;)

I did buy some Italian style soup at Costco. That and some focaccia bread from Trader Joe's along with a bowl of berries will be dinner.

I'm with those who are glad to see January behind us. It's dark, chilly, wet and dreary to me. In fact, if it were possible to make 9 month years omitting Nov, Dec, Jan - I would do that. If I could hibernate it would be OK, but I can't and am not a winter person for most of my adult life. I pretend a lot hoping people don't notice. I may be good at the ruse, I know my sister doesn't have a clue how I feel and I just can't drag on her excitement over the holidays or her joy in them.

Morz I am so sorry your year was tough. I sometimes wish we could rabbit rabbit for our friends and family as well in their stead. A little positive reinforcement is a good thing.

There is good evidence that thinking about things being lucky etc is uplifting for people. Perhaps that's not enough for some people. I enjoy it for what it is worth.

Ah, Jay Foursee. You're new here, right? 🙄

I remembered for (I think) the first time yesterday AM. This AM I pulled out one of the fridge vegetable bins to clean it, dropped it, and it shattered.

(it's so true, "they don't make them like they used to...")

And my streak of breaking things continues ...

Yes, but I feel like I already know everyone. Such a welcoming community.
