What is the lighting situation here? Is there an overhead light? Do you want to keep the antique cabinet, and if so, can it be used to hold shoes?

If it were me:

Reposition cabinet to be centered on wall facing front door.

Add a small lamp (if electric outlet available), little tray for keys, etc and hang small artwork or mirror so top is parallel with top of lamp shade.

Add a runner.

Paint the wall that faces the front door with a colour in runner.

You now have a "visual moment" when you open the front door.

I would either add some nice art to the wall on the left side of the door, a runner, or a beautiful round mirror with a cool frame and a runner. I would move that chest to somewhere else and replace it with a console table with a lamp on it, an ornate dish for keys and a mirror over it, and a runner. I would take the shoe shelf out. By the way, that's a beautiful cabinet.

I don't know if such a thing exists, but I think a console table behind the couch that is also enclosed shoe storage would be great, especially if you could slide your couch forward and to the left a little bit.

First off I don't like seeing the back of the loveseat. If you can push it forward enough to allow for a table the lenght of the loveseat that would help that situation.

Use hidden shoe storage, move chest to wall in lliving room (with art) and add a console/mirror facing door.

A long runner will connect the foyer, hallway and living room and use color and accessories to do the same.

Thanks for the ideas. I just dont have an eye for these things. Any suggestions on where we can put the cabinet? I think a lower console will def look nicer. Should this be directly infront of the door?

Also, I take we need to move the loveseat further away from the wall and inward a little. Will try to do that and see how that works.

Also, should the mirror go on the wall directly infront of the door, or on wall to the left (upon entering) or the right (where the small shoe shelf is right now). I will move the shoe shelf. We have kids, no pets. There is one overhead recessed light on the ceiling in that area.

It’s nicer to face as you enter, may be in the way on the left and will be too squeezed in where shoes, also leaving other walls bare / balance the space as best you can. Would be nice to add a pendant. (Cabinet on wall in living room.)
