I'm not a designer, but personally I'd say no. It looks like it competes with your counter, because while both have gray veins, the background color is different and the veins themselves are different. I'd want something without veining, and maybe with a color that you like. Some subtle variation would be fine, but I'd say don't have veins that compete with the counter.

Are you sure you actually need a backsplash? Looks nice with the shelf and decor.

What color are the veins in your countertop. I might use that as an inspiration for a solid color tile https://www.riadtile.com/product/2x8-sea-foam-cement-tile/, or a Cloe tile in grey https://www.bedrosians.com/en/product/detail/cloe-tile/?itemNo=DECCLOGRE55G

It’s too similar to the countertops- don’t use something with veining.

Would something like Cloe in white would be too stark against the counter? The cabinets are white. I’m a bit afraid to go too gray with the backsplash. Thanks!

The easiest and safest choice is to get a tile that is the same white color as your cabinets. If you don't want to go with a safe choice, then you need to bring a whole bunch of grouted sample boards to test in the kitchen. For a better selection, I prefer local independent tile stores and not big box stores.
