I much prefer the same color and just different sheens. Both those colors have a touch of purple in them is this something you want? Mixing wahites can be very tricky and IMO get a smaple can of each , 2 larg poster boards 2 cots of each color on a board then move those boards around in your space with your stuf, your lighting and flooring. My advice when you find the color that works just use it for both , matte for the walls and satin or semigloss for trim. It is the best way.

I have all Aesthetic White in different sheens. It's lovely, neutral, not in-your-face white and definitely doesn't have purple undertones.

I have Simply White walls (eggshell) and Simply white trim (semi gloss) looks very nice

As Patricia posted, using the same white with different sheens can be quite nice. For two whites (and per Lori Sawaya), you want to make sure there’s enough chroma difference (.20 or more) to avoid one white making the other look dirty/dingy. SW’s chroma is .50 and AW’s is .73 so it might work but sampling is key.

Maybe Lori will see this and weigh in for you. I’ve not heard before of any purple undertone in SW.

It works. I like it. Just make sure you think it looks pretty in your space.

Aesthetic is not a color of white or off-white - it's too dark to fit in either category.

It's a Light Near Neutral. Darker than Simply White and also more color. Simply White is def more neutral.

With Light Near Neutrals and whites, don't have to be concerned with a difference in Chroma. I mean, it doesn't hurt to apply that rule of thumb - quantifying the contrast between two colors is good info to know - but it's not critical like it is with white/off-white.

The reason it works is Simply and Aesthetic belong to the same hue family.

You do want to test carefully.

Aesthetic is at the beginning of the Yellow hue family over near the end of the Yellow-Red hue family in color space. Which explains why some may sense a flash of plum-brown/violet.

That's doesn't mean Aesthetic White has "purple undertones".

Colors don't have undertones.

Aesthetic is a low chroma color and low chroma colors in this part of color space *can* shift and look purple-ish. It's a matter of lighting and context *IF* it happens. Big IF.

Again, that does mean it has purple undertones. Nothing sneaky or hidden or under anything. It's just a color light relationship thing that we can be aware of and look for.
