It depends. If you want the swing to stand out, go for the orange. If you want it to blend in, the robin’s egg blue.

I’m commenting after voting. I’m a little leary of mixing in another blue because it could easily look off. Go opposite or very similar, which imo is boring. I am so far the only vote for purple which looks so good in a colorful garden. Orange would work too depending on your garden flower choices.

I'm not fond of orange, except as an accent color, and then I do use it frequently. I voted for #1 - contrast is good in this case, providing that the swing is relatively small. I do not like orange as a wall color.

The good news is that you can't go wrong! I like all of them. Is it a front porch swing?

At the moment, it's a back porch swing. Couldn't be hung on the front. I hope, to rebuild the front porch in another year, and then, it will go out there.

I rather like Emperor in #3, but I'm confused since there's more than one color in each choice.

One consideration about dark vs. light colors is will the sun be hitting it? If so, dark colors might get uncomfortably hot.

They're six different colors. Light and darker of the ones we narrowed down. The swing currently sits on the northwestern side of the house, and when it goes to the front porch, it's always shaded.

I'm thinking the opposite. It probably needs to be the lighter version of whichever color, because of all the trees. Stand out more 😉

The previoius owner left a wooden bench that was also a swing, when she moved. I cleaned it up and painted it bright red because I had always wanted a Japanese garden bridge that was bright red. It looked really nice in the yard with all the green around it. I was busy with work and two kids so I didn't take good care of it and it rotted.

FWIW, years ago, I had an old wooden bench I painted with forest green enamel (which I like to call porch green), and it weathered to a really (IMO) beautiful patina before it finally disintegrated.

I was trying to cool it down to fit in with the other colors. After I paint the house and pergola I'm going to add a cream colored sheer curtain behind it. Same as the stripes in the cushions and rug. Hopefully it'll all come together. Getting there. Certainly is sparking far more joy than what was there

Yeah, orange was never my favorite color, but the past few years a lot of my flowers have been orange, in the garden. Then I bought an orange vehicle. I grew up in the 60s and 70s and my parents liked to decorate with orange and green, gag. One year my mom bought my brothers matching dark green bedspreads and I got an ugly dark orange one. I hated that bedspread.

My orange vehicle has purple seat covers and I really like the combo. I get compliments when I go through drive-thrus too. ( : I like your bench!
