The problem may be with the rinse aid gasket which may be out of place or need to be replaced. See this video and the comments.

It's not the gasket. This problem is the same as blubird's. The rinse aid goes into the dispenser and immediately runs out under the grey box that holds the two dispensers (soap and rinse aid). This just started happening a few weeks ago, but the warranty is up. Could I buy a replacement box and replace this part myself? Is it expensive? I'll have to pay a $95 fee to get a repairman in my house.

I've been very happy with the Bosch; disappointed to have something like this fail only two years in.

This should be the relevant parts diagrams at Bosch for your model, the second diagram has the item (0201) of interest -- Bosch SHE3AR72UC/28

Whether you can DIY the replacement is the question. Disassembly of the door (removal of the front panel) is surely required.

The dishwasher appears to require Bosch Part #AP5984937 which you can buy from appliancepartspros.com for $49. You can hire somebody to replace the part or do it yourself following the instructions in the video. Note that you will need a T20 TORX Screwdriver to remove the door screws.

Yes, I watched the repair tech remove the front door, lots of screws, but there are wire harnesses with short leads, he had to be careful not to tug, and getting the dispenser box out was a challenge for him. I will say that he was not particularly competent watching him try to repair and destroy my lg fridge compressor, but that's another story. The detergent box has lugs that snap it in, and needs a forceful removal to get it out. My husband and I have done many appliance repairs over the years including fridges, washes dryers , old style tvs, so we are not afraid of repairs, but this one could be trickly.

Yeah, the door was clearly designed to make it easy to insert the dispenser at the factory, not to removed it.

I fixed my 19-year-old Whirpool Quiet Partner 1* dishwasher. My philosophy regarding dishwashers is: if it washes well and doesn't leak, it's worth the repair.

12008380 is the Bosch OEM part number. PartsDr is a bit less than both Bosch (depending on their shipping rate) & AppPartsPros. Also choices on eBay with free shipping (and some used but best to avoid those for this item unless you're hugely concerned with low cost).

Same thing just happened on our 6 year old Bosch 800 series. We replaced the gasket but that wasn't the issue. We are going to look into a new dispenser.

I'd be hesitant to buy a used part; the seller may have no way of knowing that the part is defective or not. I bought two control boards for my Whirlpool dishwasher and neither worked. Why? Because the sellers didn't understand the purpose of a plastic part to which two wires were connected. It contained a hidden fuse that had blown causing the dishwasher to shut down.

You can try the following -

Deep clean: Soak & scrub the dispenser, and check for blockages inside the cavity.

Inspect mechanism: Look for damage or misalignment within the dispenser.

Contact Bosch: If DIY fails, seek professional help for repair or replacement.

Thank you all. I don't think I will be able to replace the dispenser myself, so will try a local appliance repair person who says some of his $95 charge to show up will apply to the cost of the part. (Part appears to cost less than $50.) What an annoying problem this is on a 2 year old appliance, and this fail appears to happen often, given the replies to my post. Otherwise, I've loved this dishwasher's performance -- and it is *quiet* too.

My repairman used both hands and his mouth to hold screwdrivers to get the dispenser out!

I have had two brand new Bosch dishwashers within 4 months. Both leaked all the rinse aid out before even closing the sealed area cap. They seem to have a manufacturing flaw that happened in both dishwashers I tired. I’ve given up on using rinse aid since it is just wasted. Both dishwashers were the 500 series installed in the mid summer of 2025. I have a water softener and the dishes seem to be fine without the use of rinse aid. The first 500 Bosch was from Costco. It had strange ”features” I didn’t care about. I wanted the 500 Bosch with the pop open ”Air Dry” feature so I returned the Costco one. I found the ”Air Dry” model at Best Buy. Best Buy used better installers than the Costco option.

Some Bosch dishwashers have a configuration/setup option for operating without rinse aid. Check the documentation for your model.

The solution appears to replace the #00611575 Lid Rinse aid lid with gasket. Commenters at Amazon reported the same problem and that replacing the lid solved it.
