Anyone get your roses from Garden Roses yet?

Ok, this is the companion thread for “Anyone get your roses from DA yet?” I got an email from Nate Fisher at Garden Roses LLC not too long ago saying they would start shipping to the warmer zones in the first week of February , so I’m thinking that by now maybe some of you may be receiving some of the first plants sent from this new company. I would love to hear your impressions and see pictures of your little plants if you would be so kind as to share your experiences here. :)

Their highnesses cracked me up with their Worldwide Privacy Tour.

Fishwife is a great name! Very pretty!

Maybe should have checked with the Webster folks before settling on this name. Ch-ching and Double Easy Orange don’t seem that bad now.

What if a ’Gracielinda Poulson’ rose is also released? I think I’d need both to complete my Rose Vendor Heroines garden.

This is getting almost funny. Fishwife??? Yikes!
    The rose is pretty enough.

Ben, The Little Rose Shop that Could might better be called The Little Rose Shop of Horrors.

And I still get ad emails from Grace Rose Farm, too, every day. Lots of, We Love Our Rose Family, and discounts on stuff. I'm sure that Gracielinda will be releasing her own special rose soon. plus a wonderful new Strawberry Rose Jam. Diane

I thought fishwife meant wife of a fisherman. Tess is a wife of a Fisher man.

    Diane,

Those Sussexes have released a second product, Dog biscuits to accompany the jam. By the way, how is it they got to keep their titles?

The parents of this thing are ''Ebb Tide and Princess Anne'' so clearly hes ripping off other peoples work to make his

Putting aside the other problems with this company isn’t it normal to breed new roses from existing ones? I thought only propagation by cuttings or tissue culture is an issue with patented roses, using patented roses as seed or pollen parents is allowed. Or am I mistaken?

Wait lol. FIShwife isn’t a joke? Thought BenT was playing a prank on us. There’s no way

    this is real life!

    All rose hybrids have parents.

FISHwife like AUSbelle or MEIroupis, which makes it even more delusional.

There are professional rose breeders who spend years — even decades — to perfect a rose for the florist or consumer market. And he did it in just a year or two?!

David Austin and Meilland have earned the right for an AUS or MEI. The Fishers have not.

I guess they used all the money they stole to apply for a patent (PPAF).

I really hope it doesn’t become an entry in HMF.

BTW BenT, you are hysterical! “Rose Vendor Heroines garden…” 😂

@User best part is he used Princess Anne to make his - this whole sick soap opera they've created around them just keeps getting worse and worse. They spend at least 10 years testing there roses and trialing them against all sorts of conditions before bringing them to the market, doubt he does any of that because he doesn't have ten years to get all the glory he wants now.

EnglishRoseBud… it’s all very delusional. In time, they’ll fade away from the rose community and move on to some other scam. I just feel really bad for people who don’t know any better and get scammed now.

@User I agree but some people can't be helped no matter how much you try and tell them. I'm at the point now where I just let them get on with getting scammed and refer them to the bank to sort it out.

I am curious if they really got an ICRAR registration name and a patent. Do you need a patent to get the registration name? I do not know how much any of that would cost but I can't imagine it's cheap.

    last modified: 2 years ago

Using Ebb Tide and Princess Anne as the parents does not constitute this as a rip off of other people's work. There are plenty of reasons to dislike this company but it seems like some people's desire to find more reasons to pile on is mixing with some lack of knowledge here. It's not as if all new varieties are bred from complete scratch using species roses.

If there is no legit registration, I’m gonna steal that name FISHwife right out from under them, it’s too good! And I’m going to pre-empt FISHfisher before Nate can name a rose after himself, and catFISH, FISHy and FISHmonger, too.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 What's up my fellow fishwives?

This was an unexpected Houzz click lol.

There are a lot of rose names untapped for odd humor. Currently considering naming a rose 'Osteoarthritis Sucks' and 'Oops, Herpes Again'.

    Kidding, of course.

I would totally buy those roses Jadae!

Kitty , did you get your products ? if so how are they ?

Ben I think they should name it FISHYbusiness!

Can someone explain to me how they are incapable of rooting the known roses they are selling, but somehow they think they're going to be capable of rooting something they allegedly bred themselves?

I propose that when Grace releases her first rose, it will be called "GRAbthemoney".

ICRAR, a US Patent, a Trademark, and a US Registered Trademark are all different and obtained differently.

To the best of my knowledge (and from my former marketing career working on registered trademarks years ago)…

An ICRAR is obtained through the American Rose Society. So, if it’s true that they allegedly stole from them I doubt that they would grant them FISHwife.

A patent is through the USPTO and normally requires a lawyer to draw up the paperwork for submittal.

(You can look up any patent via the USPTO.)

A Registered Trademark (R in a circle) is also through the US Gov’t and takes time and money (i.e., a lawyer).

A Trademark (TM) can be used by any company at any time as long as it does not conflict with an existing trademark.

(You can look up an RTM via USPTO.)

Typically a company will do a TM first while waiting for government approval for an RTM.

That’s why it is all very delusional.

    Susan,

I was thinking the Gracielinda Poulson rose would be cv POULmyleg only because the syntax is wrong for disGRACE. Those who purchase a POULmyleg will be sent a rose that looks alarmingly similar to Alabaster, 2 small traumatized cuttings to a pot. If they ordered previously from GRF, this order will be yet another addition to their ’Exclusively Alabaster’ garden that they never wanted.

There is actually is a rose registered as BAGlady! Surely, a rival to FISHwife, I would imagine they’d squabble over some stinky fish emulsion

Wow. Just read this entire thread.

Delusion can help you get ahead in business until the time comes to actually deliver a product. Best to slowly and organically build a manageable and trusted business rather than to dive head first into something you're not set up for. Based on everything I've read it seems they continue to lack good judgement. They should not be trusted to ship plants around the country, potentially spreading pest and disease. I hope things can turn around for them and their family.

For those who were wondering , Kitty did post on the Grace Rose Farm thread that she got her GRLLC rose products, they were small but otherwise fine.

No candles or soap for me please, I’m team ’FISHwife or Bust’! Unless, of course, they had POULmyleg. Then it’d be a real Sophie’s Choice to choose between the two.

I'm with you, Ben. If I wanted candles, soap or candy I'd order them directly.

they just have money stuck somewhere

Nate is now offering design consultation for rose gardens and lists Hopewell Park Rose Garden as part of his credentials, as seen on GRLLC's new homepage:

    https://gardenrosesllc.com/

Didn't he misappropriate funds when he was involved in that garden, or am I mixing things up? There have been so many twists and turns in this story...

And just to let you all know, I designed and consulted on the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden. And I have a rose garden to sell you. Diane

Apparently, there was a Nate and Tess Fisher Endowment at Texas A&M that fell through. One person who donated to it was asked by the university if they could use her funds somewhere else. (The posted letter from the University is on Facebook Group Rose Vendor Feedback).

I haven’t followed this thread for a while. Just want to report I got full refund from credit card and hope other people have done too

yes he misused funds for the rose garden, spent it on his own personal interests from what I was told. nate is nothing but a career criminal

    Elena,

Induan Creek soubds like Nate when I read about their ”rose thef products.” This website has no address abd no names if ow

nership. How do you know it’s Nate?

    Wow! Reincarnation.! Buyer beware!

The filing date of that new business 6-19-24..its like he was planning the next one even though people weren't getting their orders from the last one?

And the scam goes on. Fool me once, shame on you, there will be no fool me twice.

Beware, they are back, using the farm equipment and supplies from the money they stole. They even have a website. mind you this was applied for last June so long time in the making to scam some more. https://www.indiancreekrosefarm.com

BTW GRace Rose Farm is back too with a new name and location as Grace enterprises LLC located in Miami FL. I guess Jose Azout from Alexandra Farms had to bail them out.

This is all so wild. Stiffing a nonprofit that rents land at what I'm sure are subsidized rates is pretty low. (Based on their website, The Seed Farm seems to be doing great work to encourage emerging farmers and donates fresh produce to a local food bank.)

I wonder how they are getting away with all this. And what is their long game? I don't think people are exactly going to be flocking to order roses from their new site.

  • last year

Also notice how this application says nothing about selling live rose bushes and shipping them all over the courntry from an area that I believe is quarantined b/c of some pest.

The application is for a ”trade mark.” It is about a logo only I think? Maybe his rose farm application is another place filed?

I just reached out...it's been almost two years now since I paid them and have yet to hear/get anything. I should probably just call my bank.

    Aaron,

I would definitely try the bank, I hope it’s not too late. I did the same with my credit card company some time back. Initially they wouldn’t do it, I had to provide a bunch of additional info before they refuneded my money
