What you need is good landscaping and either grass or a good groundcover.

Take a picture when your house is not shadowed. It's really hard to see the details of the house. What's your existing porch like? Attractive? So-so but easily upgradeable? Sorry and badly in need of a change? I have no idea.

Your grass is very likely to perk up in spring.

As you can see in the photoshopped pic below, it's easy to photoshop in things that are impossible. The porches they show are impossible with your roofline. You can put in a porch, but the roofline may be an issue. Both pics have changed your windows for their convenience. And they look good because they are bright, unlike your very shadowed pic.

Here’s better photos!! There is a little space to expand the front steps into a porch but the brick steps that are there currently needs to be re done because they are uneven and cracked.

Your house is super cute! The brick is pretty, I would not spend the money it would cost to paint it. I would expand the porch to give you plenty of room to open the storm door and get into the house without falling off it. 🙂 The landscape is not working, the planting bed on the left is too big, and too small on the right.

The garden looks like it just needs more plants. There's probably a lot of shade under that willow? You might try some fothergillia or mountain laurel under it. Ferns are good, too, unless it's really dry. But you need to give us a zone and nearby city.

Lining a walkway with plants is always a nice look, but yours might be a challenge with possible dense shade under the tree, which I'm guessing is a willow, and sun in other places.

I like your house, I think the white is too big a contrast. I like the color Celery suggested. A sagey green or muted blue might work, too. I'd paint the shutters a darker color. Maybe a few shades bluer and darker than they are now (but it all depends on whether you paint the white siding).

I find myself wanting the left side of the house (sunroom?) to extend forward like the right side, creating a recessed central area. Maybe there could be a sunroom bump-out someday? In the meantime, perhaps a short wing wall would cast a shadow to balance the one on the right and give the impression of a central recess?

I did play with porch options, but if the porch floor is set at the bottom of the door, the space between floor and roof/eaves looked uncomfortably low. I preferred just wider stairs, brick risers and concrete treads for contrast, deeper landing at the top, all flanked by low brick walls that act as guardrails, with the walk widened to match the stair width. Then I darkened the shutters, added wide trim in the shutter color on either side of the door to emphasize it, painted the sunroom wall a color from the brick to de-emphasize that.

A generous shade garden the full depth of the bed on the left, continued in a sweeping curve on the right, around the large tree, creates a beautiful approach to a lovely house.

First, I’d ask myself, am I a front porch person? If I spend all this money and time and aggravation to build this roomy front porch, am I going to actually use it or do I just want something to look pretty. Because you could fix/replace the steps and add a little wider landing without going into big front porch land and still have money to redo walkways and add landscaping and paint, etc. all things you might still want to do even after adding the big porch.
