Floor prep and underlayment for Click-lock LVT?

I am installing Click-lock LVT on a subfloor.

1) Is it necessary to sand the seams between the boards? If yes, can I do it with a belt sander?

2) Is there any other floor prep necessary?

3) The floor has a sound dampening layer. If I put WhisperMat or another underlayment beneath, will it improve the sound dampeningn or create any issues with the LVT?

Instructions for the flooring brand you choose will tell how flat the subfloor must be, usually about 1/8" over 10'. As well as whether or not a underlayment is allowed. In some instances it is not and will void the warranty. Same as the floor not being flat enough. Click locks will break if the floor is not installed properly (flat and with ot without allowable underlayment).

Is installing click lock as simple as it is made out to be? My husband is quite handy, and detailed oriented and we watched a few videos, and read articles, about how to do it.

Provided it is a quality product and all the prep work is done right so the floor is nice and flat it can be quite easy. Cheap flooring and the locks may not fit together well. Use the tools they recommend, may need some "helping" with a mallet, make sure it is the correct type and the material is protected as much as possible.
