off topic surgery

A few of you know i was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I am very blessed that it was found early due to a regular mammogram and there was no lymph node involvement.

I am now recovering at home, and it will be a few weeks before I can get back in the garden. I have missed the color and alphabet forums this year, but life happens.

We have missed you. I'm so glad they caught this early and there was no lymph node involvement. Best wishes for your recovery! This will keep you from garden work for awhile, but you'll still be able to enjoy your blooms when they start.

We will all be thinking of you, Kay. It's a good time to spend recovering.

I'm sorry to hear of your illness but thankful that you caught it early. The cure rate for this disease is so much better then in my youth that there is every possibility that you will be back in your garden shortly and for a long time to come. God Bless you during this healing time..................Maryl

Thank you all. It has been an unexpected journey and I am glad to be this far, Not fun, but the doctor says I have a 99% chance that it will not return due to the type that it is and the how quickly it was found.

Glad to hear it went well. My wife just had surgery for that too, also an early diagnosis, and no lymph node involvement either. Will you need radiation? They will for her for 3 weeks to be sure there is nothing hiding.

Brad, I chose the simple mastectomy rather than the lumpectomy to avoid the radiation but I will be taking an estrogen blocker for at least five years.

Yes, Janelle is doing well. Her radiation starts Wednesday and will be 3 weeks [15 days]. It will make her very tired. Our daughter in law started a meal train for us for during treatment time. We have lots of support!

Brad - Best wishes to Janelle that she has an easy time during radiation. I got horribly burned when I went through it, but I didn't suffer the extreme tiredness they warned me I would feel.
