Hello Leslie, this countertop is a marble actually and it is called Shadow Storm. Slabs can vary pretty heavily from white with some grey to lots of grey. We chose this particular slab for its white with more subtle pops of grey which helped accent the cabinet color.

Wow, that was fast and I so appreciate your reply. Very helpful. Thank you! I forgot to ask how thick it is. I currently have marble that is 1/2-3/4inch thick and heavily etched-thinking of replacing it. Do I ask for a certain thickness or is it fairly standard? Thanks again!

These particular countertops were a 3 cm material or nearly 1.25". We tend to get a lot of 3cm material here in our state that isn't found else where because people don't want it.

Marble is an interesting material that is going to etch, but it can be brought back to most of it's former glory. I've seen it done in videos. You might try an online search if you wanted to keep them, but with marble it's always going to be a bit of a battle; you just have to know that up front and be willing to love them. Each little etch tells a story about how the kitchen is used and loved.

We love the butcher block at the end too! It's right above the trash can so that any scraps can be swept right in for convenience.
