Racine area of Meigs County... The tree was a sapling in the early 1860s, making it over 160 years old.... An incredible specimen in healthy condition. She came out at a staggering 252" in circumference, a tick over 76' tall, with an 80' average crown spread. 348 points...top 3 in Ohio...

Thanks for sharing, I have a bit an obsession for all Magnolia (evergreen and deciduous), not familiar with that native species. They don't seem that common in my area for whatever reason, so unappreciated may be a good word.

Good looking tree with neat form. A reminder interesting branching is attractive in winter.

Agree that Magnolia acuminata is under-appreciated. It can attain an impressive stature when growing under favorable site conditions. Love this photo of the National champion from the Gather Growth Foundation

Impressive specimens! What it lacks in floweri display, it more than makes up in stature. And Z4 Hardy to boot!
