Asymmetrical/Off-centred gas fireplace - Ideas please!

Hi! I am in need of some design ideas please. I am planning on painting my place but first I am thinking of doing something to the fireplace area in my condo.

I want to tile the fireplace but with the asymmetrical fireplace and the mantel centred around the fireplace, here are some options I am thinking about:

  1. Tile the entire wall - the problem with this is that I won’t be able to find a single tile that will fit the dimensions of the space above the mantel (74.74 inches X 48.5inches) so the 1/6 inch grout lines would be visible and uneven. I like the Lucerne Acero 18x48 but that means I will have the grout line at 27 inches wide). If I used a 3D ‘brick like’ tile (mosaico prada acero), it may make the fireplace too heavy and make the condo look smaller.

  2. Tile half way - use mosaico prada acero and extend the mantel to frame the fireplace - I found a picture on the internet (see attached) with this design. This will leave the area above the mantel clear so this may create more open space in my condo and the grout lines won’t be so obvious either for the tiles.

  3. Tile halfway and extend the mantel - I think this may make the off-centered fireplace more obvious.

  4. Any other ideas please!

Thank you very much for your suggestions!
