The life of a Viking owner is not all the bliss of the marketing. Plus the 48" makes an induction upgrade more challenging. This Aga is 9k. Going to 36" would means cabinet and counter expense. Bosch or Wolf for 36".

Do you know what the part is? Better yet, do you know or will the "repair guy" tell you the part number? With that info and your stove's model number, somebody here may be able to point you to a generic replacement part or possibly to a source of used parts on Flea-Bay which could tide you over until the branded one comes back in stock at Viking (or you find replacement stove from another brand.) Also, if the failed part is a circuit board, another stopgap could be having it rebuilt. In several past threads, Dadoes has pointed people to board rebuilders.

I hate to say this but I had the same experience with my 30” and after 2 months of waiting for three different parts, it was decided that my Viking was beyond repair. It was 25 months old so that means out of warranty. I just had a Frigidaire professional convection range with air fryer installed and now I wish that I had skipped the Viking altogether. The frigidaire is quiet, powerful and preheats quickly. There is no gas smell that Vikings are infamous for. It is also more substantial than the Viking. the beginning of your troubles with it.
